Role Description:
This is a full-time on-site role for a Business Development Manager located in Pune. Own the end-to-end sales cycle for custom market research: prospecting - discovery - solutioning with the research team - proposal & pricing - negotiation & closure - smooth handover to delivery - account growth & retention. Build a predictable pipeline and be the "voice of the client" inside the organization.
Responsibilities / Deliverables:
A. Pipeline & Market Development:
- Build and manage a named-account list; prospect via LinkedIn Sales Navigator, email, calls, events/associations.
- Create targeted sequences and thought-leadership touchpoints (newsletters, case notes, webinars).
B. Discovery & Consultative Selling
- Run problem-discovery calls; map use-cases (market entry, sizing, CI, VoC, win-loss, due diligence).
- Translate business problems into researchable objectives and success criteria.
C. Solutioning & Scoping (with Research/Delivery)
- Co-design methodology (secondary, IDIs/FGs, surveys), sample plan, timelines, clear deliverables.
- Draft SOWs with assumptions, risks, dependencies; align on resourcing and pricing.
D. Proposals, Pricing & Closure
- Write persuasive proposals and decks; align value, scope and milestones; negotiate commercial & legal terms with Finance/Legal; close deals.
E. Handover, Governance & Growth
- Lead internal kick-off; ensure client brief, hypotheses, timelines, contact map are documented.
- Track mid-project checkpoints; surface upsell opportunities.
F. Reporting & Admin
- Maintain CRM (stages, notes, next steps, forecast); weekly funnel and forecast reviews; competition/market intel sharing.
Qualifications (3-7 years)
Must-have:
- Proven consultative B2B selling in research/insight/consulting/analytics.
- Strong scoping & proposal writing; comfort with research methods (B2B Primary research, surveys, sampling basics).
- Executive communication & storytelling; commercial acumen (pricing, T&Cs).
- Tools: CRM (Salesforce/Zoho), LinkedIn, MS Office.
Good-to-have:
- Sector familiarity in Building Materials, Industrial/Engineering, Healthcare, Agri Equipment.
- Experience selling into CXO/Strategy/Marketing/Product/BD/PE-VC stakeholders.
- MBA/PGDM (Marketing) preferred.
