Director - IT

About the Role

iMerit is looking for a Director of IT to run our global technology backbone, end-user devices, networks, corporate applications, and Linux/Windows systems across a distributed, multi-country workforce. This is a working leadership role: you'll set direction and also get into the weeds when something needs fixing.

Security sits with a dedicated Security team, but you'll need a good working knowledge of security fundamentals and a habit of looping in Security early rather than treating it as an afterthought.

What You'll Do

Infrastructure & Systems

Manage our global network (LAN/WAN, Wi-Fi, VPN, firewalls) and the Linux/Windows server environments that run on it , patching, backups, Active Directory, disaster recovery, capacity planning. Keep ISP and vendor relationships in order across every location we operate in.

End-User Technology

Own device management and lifecycle across the company provisioning, imaging, MDM/UEM, and helpdesk. Standardize wherever it makes sense across regions instead of letting every office run its own setup.

Corporate Applications

Administer and evolve the systems the business runs on (ERP, HRMS, ITSM, collaboration tools). Work directly with HR, Finance, and Operations to translate their needs into working systems, not just tickets.

Incident Management

Run a 24/7, follow-the-sun incident response model with clear on-call rotations and escalation paths. When something breaks, you're accountable for how fast it gets fixed and what we learn from it track MTTD/MTTR and close the loop with real postmortems, not just tickets marked resolved.

Automation & Reporting

Reduce manual work wherever it's repeatable onboarding/offboarding, device setup, compliance checks using scripting and Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Ansible, Python/Bash/PowerShell). Build dashboards leadership can actually use: uptime, patch compliance, incident trends, SLA performance, cost.

Vendors & Customers

Manage the vendor and contractor relationships that keep infrastructure running. Where customer engagements require IT systems, tooling, or data pipelines to connect with ours, you're the one making that integration work cleanly and with Security in the loop.

Team & Budget

Build and lead a distributed IT team spanning multiple countries and time zones, including on-call coverage. Own the IT budget and vendor contracts, and make the roadmap decisions that keep the function ahead of the business rather than reacting to it.

What You Bring

- 15+ years in infrastructure, cloud, IT operations, managing regionally distributed team

- Hands-on depth in end-user computing, enterprise networking, Linux and Windows administration, and enterprise SaaS/application support

- Working experience across AWS, Azure, or GCP

- Real scripting and automation ability (Python, Bash, or PowerShell) and experience with Terraform/Ansible or similar

- Solid security fundamentals, access control, patching hygiene, monitoring , and the judgment to know when something needs Security's involvement rather than yours

- A track record of running distributed teams across countries and time zones, including 24/7 coverage models

- Comfortable owning vendor negotiations, budgets, and executive-level reporting on risk and priorities

- Global operational exposure, you should have worked across regulatory and infrastructure environments.

Nice to Have

- Background in BPO/ITES, tech services, or AI/data services, ideally with a distributed delivery model

- Experience scaling IT through a period of fast headcount or geographic growth

- ITIL, PMP, CCNA, MCSE, RHCE, or cloud certifications
