- As part of the global Breeding Leadership Team collaborate with breeding management throughout the world, and contribute to HMC global R&D strategy, strategic crop reviews, annual crop reviews and portfolio reviews. - Define the breeding organization in regard to staff, budget, and technology resources associated with the development and implementation of each breeding program. - Work together with the Asia R&D Manager by providing direction/priorities for the implementation of the breeding programs present on each species at each site. In some cases work with breeding directors from other regions to prioritize and schedule site activities in accordance with our strategies. - Global strategic leadership for assigned species via crop R&D steering councils. - Collaborate with other breeding directors (Regional and Global), breeding managers and relevant support groups to develop a breeding MTP and optimize the breeding process and the basic seed supply, sharing best practices, technological innovations and information system development. - As delegated, represent the Business Unit in dealings with the group (LVS), as well as with external organizations such as universities and institutes. - Ensure the implementation of the integration and training program(s) for breeders. - Manage breeders who are the leaders of the main programs in the species family (breeding coordinators), and to ensure a framework of management and staff development for all teams. - Participate in the development of Intellectual Property on the germplasm and the innovations in the species family, with internal and external parties. Also responsible for the assessment of Freedom to Operate (FTO) ownership of the assigned species family including patent and regulatory FTO, including international seed movement. - Ensure the implementation, among the breeding teams, of the company rules defined by the Global Management Committee, and by the Crop steering councils. - Responsible for breeding budget, OPEX and CAPEX execution throughout the year. Support Asia R&D manager to meet budget target for the overall Asia R&D (Station activity, temp, travels, external trials..)
