
About the Role:
We are looking for an experienced and dynamic Head of Production to lead end-to-end manufacturing operations for our Solar Inverter Division. The incumbent will be responsible for driving operational excellence, ensuring world-class quality standards, optimizing manufacturing processes, and scaling production capacity to support business growth.
This is a strategic leadership role for professionals with extensive experience in power electronics manufacturing, particularly Solar Inverters, UPS systems, or EV Chargers.
Key Responsibilities:
Manufacturing Operations Leadership:
- Lead and manage overall production activities to achieve daily, monthly, and annual manufacturing targets.
- Ensure adherence to production schedules, safety norms, and delivery commitments.
- Establish, implement, and continuously improve Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) across assembly, testing, and packaging functions.
- Oversee preventive and breakdown maintenance to ensure maximum equipment uptime and operational efficiency.
Quality & Compliance Management:
- Drive robust quality assurance systems to achieve high product reliability and zero-defect manufacturing.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards and certifications including ISO 9001, BIS, IEC, CE, and other applicable regulations.
- Collaborate with R&D, Engineering, and Quality teams to enhance product performance through continuous improvement initiatives.
Process Excellence & Automation:
- Lead Lean Manufacturing initiatives such as Six Sigma, Kaizen, TPM, and 5S to improve productivity and reduce operational costs.
- Implement Industry 4.0 practices, automation initiatives, and digital manufacturing solutions.
- Work closely with Engineering and IT teams to integrate ERP systems and real-time production monitoring tools.
- Drive continuous improvement in SMT, PCBA assembly, testing, and final product manufacturing processes.
Supply Chain & Cost Management:
- Coordinate with Procurement and Supply Chain teams to ensure timely availability of critical electronic components and materials.
- Optimize Bill of Materials (BOM) management and inventory utilization.
- Manage departmental budgets, improve labor productivity, and reduce Cost of Poor Quality (COPQ).
Team Leadership & Development:
- Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team of production engineers, technicians, supervisors, and shop-floor personnel.
- Foster a culture of accountability, safety, innovation, and operational excellence.
- Drive employee engagement, skill development, and succession planning initiatives.
Desired Candidate Profile:
Educational Qualification:
- B.E./B.Tech in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Mechatronics, or related discipline.
- M.Tech or MBA in Operations, Manufacturing, or Supply Chain Management will be an added advantage.
Experience:
- 15+ years of experience in electronics manufacturing.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in a senior production leadership role.
- Strong experience in manufacturing of:
1. Solar Inverters (String/Central Inverters)
2. UPS Systems
3. EV Chargers
4. Other Power Electronics Products
Technical Expertise:
- Strong understanding of power electronics, inverter architecture, thermal management, and power conversion systems.
- Hands-on exposure to SMT production lines and automated PCBA testing processes.
- Experience with ERP systems such as Microsoft Dynamics 365, SAP, or similar manufacturing platforms.
- Knowledge of international manufacturing standards, quality systems, and certifications.
