
Role Overview:
The Manufacturing Head will lead the end-to-end operations of multiple manufacturing units (technical, formulation, intermediates) within the agrochemical and specialty chemical domain. The role is responsible for driving production excellence, ensuring regulatory compliance, optimizing plant performance, and implementing world-class manufacturing practices to support business growth.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and oversee daily operations across production, utilities, engineering, and maintenance.
- Ensure timely manufacturing of technical & formulation products as per demand and production plans
- Implement and monitor KPIs: yield, throughput, OEE, batch cycle time, and cost per MT.
- Maintain strict adherence to SOPs, batch documentation, and quality standards.
2. Safety, Health & Environment (SHE):
- Ensure 100% compliance with SHE regulations including OSHA, Factory Act, Pollution Control Board norms, and agrochemical-specific guidelines.
- Drive risk assessments (HAZOP, HIRA), process safety audits, and emergency response preparedness.
- Create a strong safety culture across plants with zero-incident mindset.
3. Regulatory Compliance & Quality Assurance:
- Ensure compliance with agrochemical regulations such as CIB & RC requirements, REACH (as applicable), ISO standards, and environmental permits.
- Work closely with QA/QC teams to maintain product quality and minimize deviations.
- Facilitate internal & external audits and maintain GMP-like discipline in operations.
4. Process & Technology Improvement:
- Partner with R&D/Process Engineering teams for scale-up of new molecules, process optimization, and debottlenecking.
- Lead continuous improvement initiativesKaizen, Lean, Six Sigma, TPM, 5S.
- Drive automation, digital manufacturing, and energy efficiency programs.
5. Supply Chain & Planning Coordination:
- Collaborate with SCM for raw material planning, production scheduling, inventory control, and dispatch adherence.
- Optimize resource utilization while ensuring uninterrupted plant operations.
6. Capex Projects & Expansion:
- Lead greenfield/brownfield expansion projects, plant modernization, capacity enhancement,
and equipment selection.
- Ensure completion of projects within approved timelines, budgets, and regulatory norms.
7. People Leadership:
- Build and lead a high-performing cross-functional team across operations, engineering, EHS, quality, and projects.
- Ensure capability development, manpower planning, and succession planning.
- Foster a culture of accountability, discipline, and operational excellence.
Key Requirements:
Educational Qualification:
- B.E./B.Tech in Chemical Engineering.
- M.Tech or MBA (Operations/Industrial Management) preferred.
Experience:
- Minimum 5+ years in a leadership role heading plant/manufacturing operations.
- Experience handling hazardous chemicals (exothermic reactions, solvent recovery, distillation, nitration, chlorination, hydrogenation, etc.) is highly preferred.
Technical Skills:
- Expertise in safety standards (PSM, HAZOP, HIRA).
- Exposure to DCS/PLC systems and modern manufacturing tools.
- Hands-on experience with statutory compliance and regulatory documentation.
