
Plant HR / IR (Human Resources / Industrial Relations) role involves managing all HR functions within a manufacturing plant, including talent acquisition, employee and industrial relations, payroll, training, performance management, and ensuring strict compliance with labor laws and company policies. The position acts as a critical link between plant management and the workforce to foster a productive, safe, and compliant work environment, handling everything from recruitment and conflict resolution to managing unions and external authorities.
Key Responsibilities
Talent Management:
- Maintain harmonious relations with unions and workers, effectively address grievances and disputes, and manage contract labor.
Statutory Compliance:
- Ensure adherence to labor laws (e.g., the Factories Act, Provident Fund), oversee health and safety standards, and prepare for audits and inspections.
Employee Engagement:
- Implement performance management systems, conduct skill gap analyses, and drive engagement initiatives to enhance productivity and morale.
Manpower Planning:
- Collaborate with production teams to forecast workforce needs, manage shift planning, and optimize resource allocation.
Administration & Operations:
- Manage HR-related administrative tasks, oversee facilities like canteen and security, and support payroll processing.
Liaison with Authorities:
- Serve as a point of contact for government and local authorities, handling approvals, clearances, and other regulatory requirements.
Key Skills & Qualifications
- Strong understanding of labor laws, factory acts, and compliance requirements.
- Proficiency in talent acquisition and employee lifecycle management.
- Excellent negotiation and conflict resolution skills, particularly in unionized environments.
- Ability to build strong relationships with employees, management, and external stakeholders.
- Experience in workforce planning, performance management, and developing training programs.
