Role Overview:

We are hiring a Head of Finance to own the financial control, governance, capital, and discipline of the organization end to end. This is a leadership role that owns the full finance function: accounting, FP&A, treasury, compliance, and investor reporting, while building the team and systems to scale through high transaction volumes.

You will be the senior-most finance leader operating below the CFO/CEO, accountable for clean books, strong controls, capital efficiency, and investor-grade reporting. This suits someone who has owned finance at scale in an insurance, insurtech, or high-volume transaction-led startup environment and is ready to step up into full functional ownership.

Key Responsibilities:

Financial Control & Compliance:

- Own the integrity of the financial close (monthly, quarterly, annual) under Ind AS, with accountability for accuracy and timeliness.

- Design, enforce, and continuously improve financial controls, SOPs, and approval matrices across entities.

- Lead statutory audit, tax audit, internal audit, and CARO processes as the primary owner.

- Ensure compliance with Companies Act, GST, TDS, income tax, and sector-specific regulations (IRDAI / IFSCA where applicable).

- Own relationships with auditors, tax advisors, banks, and regulators.

Accounting & High-Volume Operations:

- Own the Accounts & GL function and the operating model behind it.

- Govern revenue recognition, accruals, provisions, reconciliations, and inter-company entries.

- Build and run reconciliation and controls frameworks suited to large transaction volumes (partner settlements, premium flows, claims, refunds).

- Ensure audit-ready books and documentation at all times.

Treasury, Cash & Working Capital:

- Own cash flow visibility, forecasting, and discipline across the group.

- Manage partner floats, escrow / nodal / virtual accounts, payables, and receivables.

- Optimize working capital and banking relationships as volumes scale.

FP&A Oversight:

- Oversee the FP&A function, with a direct report managing budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis, and related activities on a day-to-day basis.

- Set the FP&A agenda, review outputs, and ensure analytical rigour and quality before they reach leadership and the board.

- Own the narrative around margins, unit economics, and burn for leadership and investor audiences.

- Act as a financial sounding board and challenger to business leadership.

Reporting, Capital & Scale:

- Own MIS, board packs, and investor reporting.

- Lead fundraising support, due diligence, and data room readiness.

- Drive finance systems, automation, and process design to scale the function ahead of growth.

- Build and mentor the finance team.

Ideal Candidate Profile:

- CA (or equivalent) with 10 to 15 years of progressive finance experience, including ownership of a finance function or a major sub-function.

- Strong preference for candidates from Insurance, Insurtech, or startups that handle large volumes of transactions (payments, fintech, marketplaces, lending).

- Deep, demonstrated expertise in monthly closure of accounts, expense management, financial control, audits, compliance, and cash management at volume.

- Track record of building controls, SOPs, and teams in a scaling environment.

- Comfortable operating hands-on while leading, and partnering directly with founders and cross-functional leaders.

- High-ownership, detail-oriented, and able to balance control with speed.
