Strategic Financial Leadership
1. Partner with founders and business unit leaders to shape company strategy and achieve financial and business goals.
2. Build robust financial models, forecasts, and long-term plans aligned with business vision.
3. Monitor company-wide performance metrics, including unit economics, working capital, supply chain costs, and contribution margins.
4. Build a metrics driven finance organization; Present financial performance of on a periodic/monthly basis to the leadership and the Board.
Financial Planning, Budgeting, and Control
5. Lead the annual and quarterly budgeting and operating planning cycles.
6. Implement financial control systems to ensure budget adherence and cost discipline across teams.
7. Create a culture of financial accountability through structured reviews and performance metrics.
Commercial & Business Finance
8. Prepare AOPs and obtain internal stakeholder alignment and Board approval, and drive the AOP across the company.
9. Guide business teams in pricing, discounting, and commercial structuring with brands, manufacturers, and logistics providers.
10. Lead finance for trading operations, terms of trade, credit management, and vendor negotiations.
11. Provide strategic support to category, logistics, and business unit heads on achieving EBITDA profitability by gross margin improvement, cost reduction and identify additional revenue streams
Treasury & Cash Management
12. Oversee treasury operations, cash flow forecasting, and liquidity planning.
13. Optimize working capital across supply chain, vendor payments, and receivables. Accounting, Compliance & Audit, and Taxation
14. Own all statutory and regulatory compliance: Companies Act, FEMA, RBI, Income Tax, GST, Labour Laws, Shops & Establishment, FSSAI, Consumer Protection, and Ecommerce regulations.
15. Ensure timely and accurate financial statement preparation under Ind AS
16. Build audit readiness systems, lead external audits, and manage relationships with auditors and consultants.
17. Liaise with indirect tax authorities and govt bodies, and/or external consultants on indirect taxation, and be accountable for taxation issues for service tax, vat, income tax and other taxation requirements.
IPO Readiness and Capital Markets
18. Lead IPO-readiness initiatives including structuring financial disclosures, implementing public-company-ready controls, and building SEBI-compliant governance systems.
19. Liaise with investment bankers, legal advisors, auditors, and regulators to drive successful listing outcomes.
20. Establish investor relations capabilities: craft financial narratives, reporting KPIs, and disclosure frameworks for the public markets.
Risk Management & Governance
21. Set up internal audit, risk management, and compliance frameworks, set up IPO compliant audit and risk committees to oversee governance processes.
22. Implement enterprise-wide financial controls in line with IPO-grade governance standards.
ESG, Sustainability & Public Reporting
23. Build sustainability and ESG reporting frameworks aligned with investor expectations and listing norms.
24. Lead implementation of ESG metrics and develop disclosures as part of annual reporting.
Finance Tech & Automation
25. Partner with tech and product teams to build a scalable finance backend and accounting infrastructure for internal controls and marketplace transactions.
26. Drive automation of finance operations, reconciliation processes, and dashboarding via BI tools.
27. Work closely for Finance Ops teams and Marketplace seller payment teams, category vendor management teams; Drive seller and vendor NPS with on-time and accurate payments,
28. Design and implement automated and integrated settlement/payment flows for vendors, marketplace sellers, logistics providers, and partners.
Corporate Development and Fundraising
29. Lead due diligence for primary fundraising from VC/PE
30. Setup a Corp Dev function for M&A.
31. Design optimal capital structure, working capital lines, and corporate financing models.
32. Evaluate inorganic growth opportunities and lead financial due diligence for M&A.
33. Lead debt fundraising, including venture debt, structured debts from private equity, and structured finance for projects and working capital.
Team Building and Leadership
34. Build and lead a high-performing finance team across compliance and audit, controllership, business finance, FP&A, taxation, treasury, and finance ops.
35. Create leadership succession, mentorship, and career development plans for finance professionals.
36. Drive cross-functional financial literacy and ownership across all teams.
Qualifications & Experience
1. Chartered Accountant (CA); additional MBA/CFA is a plus. CA First Attempt only.
2. 15-20 years of progressive experience in business and corporate finance, with at least one startup stint.
3. Drive and motivation to think and act like founders.
4. Proven experience presenting plans and managing expectations of investors, board of directors.
5. Minimum 5 years in Retail, FMCG, Ecommerce, or Fintech.
6. Direct experience in leading teams in Indian taxation (direct and indirect), Ind AS, Indian GAAP ,IFRS.
7. Demonstrated track record of scaling finance teams and leading high-growth businesses.
8. Proven ability to partner with business, influence decision-making on a daily basis within business teams.
9. Experience in logistics or managing finance for supply chain-driven businesses.
10. Exposure to PE/VC fundraising and FDI structuring.
11. Experience preparing companies for IPO or handling public market reporting.
12. Familiarity with accounting software development, finance tech stacks, and ERP systems.
13. High ownership mindset and hands-on leadership.
14. Passion for building systems and people from the ground up.
15. Strong communication, leadership presence, and a bias for action.
16. Strategic thinker with deep tactical command.
