Role Overview:
The Head - Employee Relations & Compliance will be responsible for driving the organization's Employee Relations strategy, disciplinary governance, labor compliance, and workplace conduct frameworks.
The role requires a highly mature and strategic HR-ER professional with strong legal acumen, excellent drafting capabilities, and proven expertise in handling sensitive employee matters including disciplinary actions, POSH cases, misconduct investigations, fraud cases, grievance management, and compliance-related interventions.
The incumbent should be capable of partnering with business leaders and HR teams to create a compliant, disciplined, and employee-centric work environment while ensuring organizational risk mitigation.
Key Responsibilities:
Employee Relations:
- Drive enterprise-wide Employee Relations strategy and governance frameworks.
- Handle sensitive employee matters including: Misconduct cases , POSH , Fraud investigations, Disciplinary actions , Grievance handling ,Domestic inquiries , Code of conduct violations
- Lead employee grievance redressal mechanisms and ensure timely resolution.
- Partner with business and HR teams on employee retention and workplace engagement initiatives.
- Drive policy awareness and employee communication programs.
Compliance & Governance:
- Ensure adherence to labor laws, statutory requirements, and organizational compliance frameworks.
- Manage HR compliance audits and governance reviews.
- Develop and strengthen ER policies, disciplinary procedures, and compliance mechanisms.
- Partner with legal and business stakeholders on compliance risk mitigation.
- Ensure proper documentation and governance across employee lifecycle processes.
Drafting & Legal Documentation:
- Draft and review:
a. Show-cause notices
b. Charge sheets
c. Warning letters
d. Employment-related communications
e. Investigation reports
f. Policy documents
g. Compliance frameworks
- Maintain strong documentation standards for all employee-related cases and proceedings.
Investigations & Risk Management:
- Lead investigations related to employee misconduct, fraud, ethical violations, and workplace disputes.
- Coordinate with internal stakeholders and legal teams on critical cases.
- Ensure fair, compliant, and legally defensible processes during investigations and disciplinary proceedings.
Stakeholder Management:
- Work closely with HR, Legal, Business Leaders, and external authorities where required.
- Act as a trusted advisor on ER strategy, employee governance, and compliance matters.
Candidate Profile:
Mandatory Experience:
- 15-20 years of experience in Employee Relations, Compliance, or HR Legal roles.
- Mandatory qualification in Law (LLB).
- Strong exposure to Employee Relations and labor compliance frameworks.
- Proven expertise in handling disciplinary actions, misconduct cases, fraud investigations, and grievance management.
- Strong drafting and documentation skills are mandatory.
- Experience managing compliance and ER practices in large organizations with distributed workforce structures.
- Strong understanding of labor laws, statutory compliance, and employee governance practices.
