Role Overview
The Head Advocacy & Regulatory will lead the organizations advocacy, regulatory affairs, and policy engagement initiatives with government bodies, regulators, and industry stakeholders. The role requires strong understanding of the real estate sector, regulatory frameworks, and policy-making processes. The individual will represent the organization on industry forums, drive lobbying efforts, and ensure compliance with evolving regulations.
Key Responsibilities
Advocacy & Policy Engagement
- Develop and implement advocacy strategies to influence government policies, regulations, and legislations impacting the real estate sector.
- Build and maintain relationships with government authorities, ministries, regulators, and industry associations (RERA, CREDAI, NAREDCO, etc.).
- Represent the organization in industry forums, conferences, and policy consultations.
- Draft and present position papers, policy briefs, and white papers on regulatory issues.
Regulatory Affairs & Compliance
- Monitor and analyze regulatory changes, government policies, and legal frameworks related to real estate (RERA, Land Acquisition Act, GST, Environmental Laws, Urban Development, etc.).
- Provide strategic advice on compliance requirements and regulatory risk management.
- Ensure the companys projects and operations are aligned with statutory and regulatory norms.
Stakeholder Management
- Act as a bridge between the organization, policymakers, investors, and customers on advocacy and regulatory matters.
- Engage with chambers of commerce, industry bodies, and real estate councils to strengthen the organizations voice in policy-making.
- Build strong alliances with legal, tax, and compliance experts.
Research & Analysis
- Conduct research on global best practices in real estate regulations and recommend adoption.
- Anticipate regulatory trends and advise leadership on potential business impact.
- Prepare reports and presentations for senior management and board discussions.
Candidate Profile
Education & Experience:
- Postgraduate in Law / Public Policy / Business Administration / Urban Planning.
- 15+ years of experience in regulatory affairs, advocacy, legal, or policy functions, preferably in real estate, infrastructure, or allied industries.
- Proven track record of engaging with government bodies, regulators, and industry forums.
Skills & Competencies:
- Deep understanding of real estate regulatory environment (RERA, GST, stamp duty, urban development policies, land laws).
- Strong policy research, drafting, and negotiation skills.
- Excellent stakeholder management and networking ability.
- Strategic thinker with strong business and legal acumen.
- Superior communication and presentation skills.
