Role Overview:
The Head of Accounting India will lead the full spectrum of accounting and financial reporting across all Indian legal entities. This role is accountable for ensuring best-in-class financial integrity, regulatory compliance, and robust internal controls, while aligning with global finance standards. As a key member of the finance leadership team, the role will partner closely with business leaders, global stakeholders, and external advisors to drive operational excellence and strategic initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead end-to-end accounting operations including General Ledger, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Fixed Assets, and Intercompany accounting.
- Ensure accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close in compliance with Ind AS, IFRS, and statutory requirements.
- Own and manage statutory audits, tax audits, and internal audits, act as primary liaison with auditors and regulatory bodies.
- Ensure full compliance with the Companies Act, GST, Income Tax, Transfer Pricing, and other applicable regulations.
- Ensure compliance with applicable statute, listing regulations, and regulatory requirements, including those prescribed by the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI).
- Establish and strengthen internal controls, including SOX compliance, and drive continuous process improvements.
- Review and approve financial statements, disclosures, and management reporting packs.
- Partner with FP&A, Tax, Treasury, and Business Finance teams to support business decisions.
- Build, lead, and develop a high-performing accounting organization across multiple entities.
- Support strategic initiatives including M&A, restructuring, and ERP/system implementations (SAP/Oracle).
Stakeholder Management:
- CFO and Executive Leadership Team.
- Global Finance and Accounting teams.
- External auditors, tax advisors, and regulatory authorities.
- Business and functional leadership teams.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Chartered Accountant (CA) mandatory.
- 15+ years of progressive experience in accounting, financial reporting, and controllership.
- Proven experience managing multiple legal entities in complex environments (MNC, GCC, or listed company).
- Strong expertise in Ind AS, IFRS, statutory audits, and Indian taxation.
- Experience in a listed company environment is preferred.
