Role Overview:

The Legal Responsible for a Greenfield Process will report to the General Counsel or Head of Legal and works closely with project management, engineering, finance, and external consultants.

Main Responsibilities:

- Legal Strategy and Compliance: Develop and implement legal strategies to support the greenfield project, ensuring compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations.

- Permitting and Licensing: Coordinate and manage the acquisition of all necessary permits, licenses, and approvals required for the project.

- Contract Management: Draft, review, and negotiate contracts with vendors, suppliers, contractors, and government bodies.

- Stakeholder Engagement: Liaise with government agencies, local communities, regulatory authorities, and internal stakeholders to facilitate project progress and maintain positive relationships.

- Risk Assessment: Identify, evaluate, and mitigate legal risks associated with land acquisition, construction, environmental impact, and operational start-up.

- Corporate Governance: Ensure that all corporate, environmental, and employment law requirements are met throughout the project lifecycle.

- Dispute Resolution: Manage and resolve any legal disputes or challenges that arise during the greenfield process.

- Documentation and Record-Keeping: Maintain accurate and comprehensive legal documentation for all project phases.

Required Qualifications:

- LLB or equivalent legal qualification.

- Admittance to practice law in the relevant jurisdiction(s).

- 10+ years of experience in corporate, real estate, or construction law, preferably with experience in greenfield or large-scale infrastructure projects.

- Strong knowledge of regulatory frameworks relevant to new business or facility development.

- Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.

- Proven ability to manage multiple stakeholders and work collaboratively in cross-functional teams.

- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.

Preferred Skills:

- Experience with environmental and sustainability regulations.

- Familiarity with public-private partnership models.

- Project management certification or experience.

- Multilingual abilities, especially if operating in international contexts.

- Proactive legal risk identification and mitigation.

- Timely acquisition of all permits and licenses.

- Effective contract negotiation and management.

- Positive relationships with regulatory authorities and stakeholders.

- Efficient resolution of legal issues to ensure project timelines are met.
