Finance Head - Finance Controller

Role Overview:
We are looking for an experienced Finance Head - Finance Controller to lead the company's overall finance function and serve as a strategic business partner to the Managing Director and leadership team.
The role will be responsible for financial strategy, planning & analysis, manufacturing finance, costing, working capital, treasury, taxation, compliance, governance, MIS, digitisation and profitability improvement.
The incumbent will play a critical role in supporting business growth, improving financial discipline, optimising costs and working capital, evaluating investments and driving long-term value creation.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Financial Strategy & Leadership:
- Develop and execute financial strategies aligned with business growth objectives.
- Provide strategic financial insights and recommendations to the Managing Director and leadership team.
- Drive profitability improvement, cost optimisation and financial performance across manufacturing operations.
- Support business expansion, new projects, capacity enhancement, automation and diversification initiatives.
- Evaluate strategic opportunities including M&A, investments and business restructuring.
- Participate in pricing, investment and capital allocation decisions.
2. Financial Planning, FP&A & MIS:
- Lead annual budgeting, forecasting and long-range financial planning.
- Monitor business performance against budgets, forecasts and key financial/operational KPIs.
- Drive management reporting and establish robust MIS dashboards for timely decision-making.
- Analyse revenue, margins, manufacturing costs, overheads and profitability.
- Identify cost optimisation and productivity improvement opportunities.
- Strengthen cash-flow forecasting and ensure adequate liquidity.
- Identify and manage financial, credit, operational and business risks.
3. Manufacturing Finance & Cost Control:
- Lead manufacturing finance, product costing and cost-control initiatives.
- Monitor raw material consumption, inventory valuation, scrap, production variances and manufacturing overheads.
- Analyse product/customer profitability and identify margin improvement opportunities.
- Drive inventory optimisation and working-capital efficiency.
- Partner with Plant, Operations, Procurement and Sales teams to improve profitability.
- Evaluate CAPEX proposals, investment cases and ROI/payback analysis.
4. Treasury & Banking:
- Oversee cash, liquidity and working-capital management.
- Manage banking relationships, fund requirements, credit facilities and working-capital limits.
- Optimise financing costs and banking arrangements.
- Monitor receivables, payables and overall cash conversion cycle.
5. Compliance, Audit & Governance:
- Ensure compliance with applicable direct and indirect taxation, Companies Act, GST, statutory and regulatory requirements.
- Lead statutory, internal and tax audits and ensure timely closure of audit observations.
- Establish strong financial controls, processes and governance frameworks.
- Ensure accuracy, integrity and transparency of financial reporting.
6. Business Systems & Digitisation:
- Drive finance-process automation, digitisation and internal control improvements.
- Strengthen ERP/financial systems and ensure effective utilisation of technology.
- Improve the quality, accuracy and timeliness of financial data and reporting.
- Identify opportunities for automation and process re-engineering across the finance function.
7. Team Leadership:
- Lead, develop and mentor the finance and accounts team.
- Build a high-performance finance organisation with clear accountability and controls.
- Strengthen financial capabilities across the organisation through business partnering and stakeholder engagement.
8. Business Partnering & Operational Excellence:
- Partner with Manufacturing, Procurement, Sales, HR and other functions to improve operational efficiency and profitability.
- Provide financial insights to support business decisions and strategic initiatives.
- Challenge business assumptions through data-driven financial analysis.
- Drive a culture of cost consciousness, financial discipline and continuous improvement.
Candidate Profile:
Education:
- Chartered Accountant (CA) - Mandatory.
- MBA (Finance) will be an added advantage.
Experience:
- 15 - 20 years of relevant finance experience.
- Minimum 5 years in a senior finance leadership - controllership role.
- Strong experience in manufacturing finance, costing, FP&A and business partnering.
- Experience in automotive, engineering or industrial manufacturing will be preferred.
