Role Overview
The Head of Commercial will lead the end-to-end global commercial strategy for regulated and semi-regulated markets including the US, Europe, Canada, Australia, LatAm, APAC, MENA, and ROW markets. The role requires an experienced pharmaceutical commercial leader with expertise in generics, pricing, product launches, partner management, market expansion, and P&L ownership.
Key Responsibilities
Global Commercial Strategy and P&L Leadership
- Develop and execute commercial strategies for global regulated and emerging markets.
- Own revenue, profitability, and gross margin targets for all international markets.
- Assess commercial viability of new products and drive portfolio optimization.
- Build multi-year revenue growth plans with cross-functional teams.
Business Development and Market Access
- Identify and onboard global partners for licensing, distribution, and commercial collaborations.
- Manage opportunity assessment, negotiations, and contract closures.
- Strengthen relationships with partners and distributors across all key geographies.
- Ensure regulatory and supply alignment for market entry and commercialization.
Product Launch Management
- Lead planning and execution of product launches across multiple markets.
- Drive pricing strategy, forecasting, and competitive analysis.
- Coordinate with R&D, regulatory, supply chain, QA, and IP teams to ensure launch readiness.
- Conduct post-launch performance reviews and corrective action planning.
Commercial Operations and Revenue Management
- Develop competitive pricing strategies and monitor margin performance.
- Forecast revenue and demand for current and pipeline products.
- Manage tender submissions and institutional business in relevant markets.
- Track commercial KPIs, partner performance, supply status, and market share.
Leadership and Collaboration
- Lead and mentor global commercial, BD, and market intelligence teams.
- Drive a culture of commercial excellence and high performance.
- Represent the company in global partner meetings and conferences.
- Strengthen internal reporting, governance, and commercial planning systems.
Key Requirements
Educational Qualifications
Bachelors degree in Pharmacy, Life Sciences, Business, or a related field. MBA preferred.
Experience
- Minimum 10 to 15 years of experience in commercial operations or business development within pharmaceutical generic companies.
- Strong experience in handling US, Europe, and ROW markets.
- Proven experience in oral solids and injectables.
- Successful track record in launching products across multiple geographies and dosage forms.
- Experience in P&L management, pricing, forecasting, and partner relationship management.
Technical and Functional Skills
- Deep understanding of global pharmaceutical markets, regulations, and commercial models.
- Experience in licensing, out-licensing, tendering, and partner management.
- Strong analytical skills in forecasting, pricing, and profitability management.
- Ability to manage large commercial portfolios and multi-market strategies.
