Position Overview:
The General Manager Quality will lead the Quality function for the plant, ensuring compliance with global automotive standards and driving continuous improvement across all manufacturing processes. This role demands a seasoned leader with strong technical expertise and proven experience in managing large-scale quality operations in the automotive sector.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Leadership:
- Define and execute the plant-wide Quality strategy aligned with organizational objectives.
- Ensure adherence to customer requirements, industry standards, and statutory regulations.
Quality Systems & Compliance:
- Ensure full compliance with IATF 16949 and other automotive quality standards.
- Implement and sustain APQP, PPAP, FMEA, MSA, SPC methodologies across all processes.
Process Excellence:
- Oversee quality assurance across forging, casting, machining, and sheet metal processes.
- Drive initiatives to reduce defects, improve reliability, and enhance customer satisfaction.
Continuous Improvement:
- Lead root cause analysis and corrective actions for quality issues.
- Promote a zero-defect culture and continuous improvement programs.
Customer & Audit Management:
- Act as the primary interface for OEM/Tier-1 customers on quality matters.
- Represent the organization during audits and customer visits.
Team Development:
- Build, mentor, and manage a high-performing Quality team.
- Foster a culture of accountability, innovation, and excellence.
Key Requirements:
Experience:
- 15+ years in automotive manufacturing, preferably with OEM or Tier-1 suppliers.
- Proven track record in leading plant-wide Quality functions.
Technical Expertise:
- Strong background in forging, casting, machining, and sheet metal processes.
- Hands-on experience with IATF 16949, APQP, PPAP, FMEA, MSA, SPC.
Leadership Skills:
- Ability to manage large teams and drive organizational change.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
Career Stability:
- Preference for candidates with long tenures and a stable career history.
Education:
- Bachelors degree in Automobile Engineering or related field.
- Masters degree in Quality Management or leadership management from an esteemed institute.
