Job Title: General Manager - Operations
Location: Vapi
Departments: Operations
Key Responsibilities:
1. Operational Management:
- Oversee the day-to-day operations of the Vapi manufacturing plant.
- Ensure that production schedules are met within cost and time parameters.
- Develop and implement effective production plans, policies, and procedures to ensure plant efficiency.
2. Team Leadership:
- Lead and manage plant personnel across multiple departments (production, maintenance, quality control, etc.).
- Foster a culture of teamwork, continuous improvement, and accountability.
- Conduct regular performance reviews, provide coaching, and ensure professional development opportunities for team members.
3. Safety and Compliance:
- Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal safety regulations, including environmental and health standards.
- Oversee plant safety programs and ensure that all employees are trained on safety protocols and best practices.
- Monitor safety performance and ensure proper corrective actions are taken.
4. Quality Control and Assurance:
- Ensure that products meet the required quality standards and specifications.
- Collaborate with the quality assurance team to address any quality issues or discrepancies.
- Implement and maintain systems for quality control and continuous improvement in production.
5. Maintenance and Reliability:
- Oversee the maintenance of all equipment and machinery to ensure optimal performance.
- Develop and implement preventative maintenance schedules to minimize downtime.
- Ensure timely troubleshooting and repair of production equipment.
6. Budget and Resource Management:
- Develop and manage the plant's annual budget, ensuring cost-effective use of resources.
- Monitor and optimize material usage, energy consumption, and other operational costs.
- Identify areas of cost reduction without compromising on product quality or safety.
7. Supply Chain and Inventory Management:
- Oversee inventory management, ensuring adequate raw materials are available for production.
- Collaborate with procurement teams to maintain effective supply chain operations.
- Ensure efficient distribution of finished goods.
8. Reporting and Continuous Improvement:
- Prepare regular reports on production performance, safety, quality, and operational efficiency.
- Identify and implement process improvements to increase plant efficiency, reduce waste, and enhance profitability.
- Drive innovation and adoption of new technologies or best practices within the plant.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering or Industrial Engineering.
- Minimum 18-20 years of experience in plant operations or manufacturing, with at least 6-7 years in a leadership role.
- Strong knowledge of CDMO manufacturing processes, safety regulations, quality control practices, and liaisoning.
- USFDA audit experience is a must.
- Proven track record of managing large teams and complex production processes.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to make quick, effective decisions.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
Desired Skills:
- Experience in CDMO manufacturing is non-negotiable.
- Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or other continuous improvement methodologies.
- Experience with plant automation and control systems.
