1. Safety Planning & Strategy:
- Develop and implement the overall Safety - HSE strategy, policies, standards, and annual safety plans.
- Establish project-specific safety plans aligned with project scope, timelines, and risk profile.
- Define safety objectives, KPIs, monitoring mechanisms, and performance standards.
- Identify high-risk activities and establish appropriate preventive and control measures.
- Ensure safety requirements are incorporated during project planning and execution stages.
2. Safety Execution & Site Implementation:
- Lead and monitor the implementation of safety systems across project sites.
- Ensure adherence to approved HSE plans, SOPs, method statements, risk assessments, and permit-to-work systems.
- Monitor critical activities such as work at height, lifting operations, excavation, scaffolding, electrical work, confined spaces, hot work, and heavy equipment operations.
- Conduct regular site inspections and safety reviews to identify unsafe acts, unsafe conditions, and potential hazards.
- Ensure timely closure of safety observations, non-conformities, and corrective actions.
- Work closely with Project, Construction, Engineering, and Site teams to ensure safety is integrated into day-to-day project execution.
3. Safety Audits & Compliance:
- Plan and lead internal and external safety audits across projects.
- Establish a structured safety audit and inspection calendar.
- Review audit findings and ensure timely implementation of corrective and preventive actions.
- Monitor compliance with applicable statutory requirements, regulatory standards, and organizational safety policies.
- Maintain proper safety documentation, records, reports, and compliance trackers.
- Drive periodic management reviews of safety performance and compliance status.
4. Risk Management:
- Identify, assess, and monitor operational and project-specific safety risks.
- Review Job Safety Analysis (JSA), Risk Assessments, Method Statements, and Emergency Response Plans.
- Develop mitigation plans for high-risk activities and ensure effective implementation.
- Establish escalation mechanisms for critical safety risks.
- Investigate incidents, near misses, and accidents and ensure implementation of preventive measures.
5. Safety Systems & Process Improvement:
- Develop and continuously improve safety processes, SOPs, checklists, and control mechanisms.
- Standardize safety practices across projects and business units.
- Introduce effective safety monitoring and reporting systems.
- Identify opportunities for technology-led safety monitoring and digital reporting.
- Benchmark safety practices against industry standards and drive continuous improvement.
6. Incident Management:
- Lead investigation of major incidents, accidents, and near misses.
- Conduct root-cause analysis and identify corrective-preventive actions.
- Ensure lessons learned are communicated across relevant teams and projects.
- Monitor implementation of recommendations arising from incident investigations.
- Maintain incident statistics and analyze trends to proactively address recurring risks.
7. Team Leadership:
- Lead, mentor, and develop the organization's Safety - HSE team.
- Define responsibilities, performance expectations, and KPIs for safety personnel.
- Build a strong safety-first culture across project and corporate teams.
- Conduct regular safety reviews, training sessions, and capability-building programs.
- Ensure adequate safety manpower and competency levels across projects.
8. Stakeholder Management:
- Work closely with senior management, project leadership, contractors, consultants, and other stakeholders on safety-related matters.
- Participate in project review meetings and provide inputs on safety risks and performance.
- Coordinate with Project, Construction, Engineering, Quality, Contracts, and HR teams wherever required.
- Engage with contractors and subcontractors to ensure compliance with organizational safety standards.
9. Safety Training & Awareness:
- Develop and drive safety training and awareness programs.
- Ensure induction and periodic training for employees, contractors, and site personnel.
- Conduct toolbox talks, safety campaigns, mock drills, and awareness initiatives.
- Promote proactive reporting of unsafe conditions, near misses, and potential hazards.
10. Reporting & Governance:
- Prepare periodic Safety MIS, dashboards, audit reports, incident reports, and management presentations.
- Track key safety KPIs and identify trends, gaps, and areas requiring intervention.
- Present critical safety risks, audit findings, incident trends, and corrective actions to senior management.
