About The Role:
A Manager in Business Development at Flipkart is a multifaceted role focused on driving business growth within a specific category. Key responsibilities generally include:
Strategy and Planning: Understanding customer behavior, market trends, and competition to identify new business opportunities and develop a viable business model. This involves co-owning the P&L (Profit and Loss) for a category.
Vendor Management: Building and maintaining strong relationships with vendors, negotiating terms, and ensuring a wide selection of products. The goal is to make Flipkart the "destination of choice" for customers and to make vendors partners in disruptive changes.
Merchandising and Promotion: Working with brands to manage in-store promotions and drive offers and discounts for customers.
Operations: Overseeing fulfillment strategies and working capital management to ensure an optimal balance between selection, cost, and service.
About The Team:
The Business Development team at Flipkart is a critical part of the company's growth strategy. It's often organized around specific product categories (e.g., fashion, electronics, home essentials) or business lines. This structure allows the team to develop deep expertise in their respective markets, understand customer behavior, and build strong relationships with vendors in that specific domain.
