About the Role:

We are seeking an experienced and strategic Financial Controller (VP Level) to lead the organization's finance function and drive financial excellence across all business operations. This role requires a seasoned finance leader with strong expertise across accounting, controllership, treasury, taxation, FP&A, risk management, and regulatory compliance.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in consulting, professional services, or high-growth organizations and will be responsible for ensuring robust financial governance, operational efficiency, and strategic financial planning while partnering closely with senior leadership to support business growth.

Key Responsibilities:

Financial Leadership & Controllership:

- Lead the overall finance and controllership function, ensuring accuracy, integrity, and transparency of financial reporting.

- Develop and strengthen financial controls, governance frameworks, and accounting policies.

- Ensure compliance with statutory regulations, accounting standards, and internal control requirements.

- Drive continuous improvement in finance processes, systems, and reporting structures.

- Provide strategic financial insights and recommendations to senior leadership.

Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A):

- Lead annual budgeting, forecasting, long-range planning, and business performance reviews.

- Monitor financial performance against budgets and identify opportunities for improvement.

- Develop management reporting frameworks, dashboards, and performance metrics.

- Support business decision-making through financial modeling, scenario analysis, and profitability assessments.

- Drive cost optimization and operational efficiency initiatives across the organization.

Taxation & Regulatory Compliance:

- Oversee direct and indirect taxation, including GST, corporate tax, transfer pricing, and regulatory filings.

- Ensure timely compliance with statutory, regulatory, and legal requirements.

- Manage tax planning initiatives and coordinate with external advisors and consultants.

- Monitor changes in financial regulations and ensure organizational readiness.

Treasury & Cash Flow Management:

- Manage treasury operations including cash flow planning, liquidity management, banking relationships, and foreign exchange exposure.

- Develop strategies to optimize working capital and improve cash flow efficiency.

- Monitor funding requirements and support fundraising activities where applicable.

- Ensure effective management of investments, financial risks, and capital allocation.

Business Finance & Commercial Support:

- Partner with business leaders to evaluate growth opportunities, investments, and strategic initiatives.

- Review project profitability, pricing models, contract structures, and commercial terms.

- Support business expansion plans through financial analysis and risk assessment.

- Provide financial guidance for key business decisions and organizational priorities.

Consulting & Project Financial Management:

- Manage client billing processes, revenue recognition, milestone-based invoicing, and project financial controls.

- Monitor project profitability, utilization metrics, and commercial performance.

- Support contract reviews, RFP financial evaluations, and client commercial negotiations.

- Ensure compliance with revenue recognition standards and project accounting requirements.

Audit, Risk & Governance:

- Lead statutory audits, internal audits, and regulatory audits.

- Act as the primary point of contact for auditors, banks, investors, and regulatory authorities.

- Develop enterprise risk management frameworks and strengthen financial risk controls.

- Ensure robust governance practices and effective compliance management.

ERP & Digital Finance Transformation:

- Drive finance transformation initiatives through process automation and technology adoption.

- Lead ERP implementation, optimization, and enhancement projects.

- Leverage financial systems and analytics to improve reporting accuracy and operational efficiency.

- Promote data-driven decision-making across the finance organization.

Team Leadership:

- Build, mentor, and lead high-performing finance teams across accounting, FP&A, taxation, treasury, and controllership functions.

- Establish performance management frameworks and succession planning initiatives.

- Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.

Required Skills & Experience:

- Chartered Accountant (Mandatory).

- 12+ years of progressive experience across finance leadership, controllership, FP&A, treasury, taxation, and compliance functions.

- Currently operating at VP Finance, Financial Controller, Finance Head, Associate VP Finance, or equivalent leadership level.

- Strong experience managing end-to-end finance operations in consulting, professional services, technology services, or high-growth organizations.

- Comprehensive knowledge of direct and indirect taxation, GST, treasury, budgeting, MIS, cost control, and financial reporting.

- Experience managing teams of 5-10 or more finance professionals.

- Strong understanding of revenue recognition, project accounting, milestone billing, and commercial finance.

- Experience handling audits, regulatory compliance, and stakeholder management.

- Hands-on expertise with ERP platforms such as SAP, Oracle, Tally, Microsoft Dynamics, or similar systems.

- Strong analytical, strategic thinking, and problem-solving capabilities.

Preferred Experience:

- Experience in consulting, professional services, advisory, technology services, or project-based business environments.

- Exposure to fundraising activities, investor relations, and financial due diligence.

- Experience managing forex exposure, treasury operations, and banking relationships.

- Familiarity with government advisory projects, large enterprise contracts, and complex commercial structures.

- Experience supporting rapid organizational growth and business transformation initiatives.
