Finance Controller - Mining Industry - CA/CPA/ACCA

About the Role:

- We are seeking an experienced Finance Controller to oversee the financial operations of our mining operations with a specific focus on Copper and Cobalt.

- This position will play a critical role in driving financial strategy, ensuring compliance, and supporting operational efficiency across the site.

Key Responsibilities:

- Lead and manage the finance function at the site, including accounting, budgeting, financial reporting, tax, and compliance.

- Develop and implement robust internal controls and financial systems suitable for mining operations.

- Prepare accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and management reports.

- Conduct cost analysis and monitor operational KPIs related to copper and cobalt extraction, processing, and logistics.

- Manage cash flow forecasting and working capital planning.

- Liaise with external auditors, tax consultants, and regulatory bodies to ensure compliance with local and international laws.

- Support project evaluations, feasibility studies, and investment analysis for expansion or efficiency programs.

- Supervise and mentor finance team members, ensuring high standards of performance and integrity.

- Partner closely with operational and technical teams to align financial insights with production realities.

- Oversee procurement and inventory valuation from a financial control perspective.

Qualification:

- CA/CPA/ACCA or equivalent professional accounting qualification.

- Experience: 15-20 years of progressive financial management experience.

- Minimum 7 years in a mining environment is essential.

- Strong preference for candidates with copper and/or Cobalt mining experience in Africa.

- Sound understanding of IFRS and local accounting standards.

- Proven track record in ERP implementation and data-driven financial management (e.g., SAP, Oracle, or similar).

- Familiarity with customs, export documentation, and tax regimes in mining-export economies.

- Strong leadership, analytical, and communication skills.

- Willingness to work in remote site-based operations if required.
