Finance Controller / Finance Head Job Description:
Location: Mumbai, India
Experience: 10+ years post-qualification experience as a Chartered Accountant (CA)
Reporting To: CEO/Managing Director
Role Overview
We are seeking a highly experienced and strategic Finance Controller / Finance Head to lead and manage the entire finance function of our rapidly growing company. The ideal candidate is a seasoned Chartered Accountant (CA) with over 10 years of post-qualification experience who can provide strong financial leadership, ensure compliance, drive operational efficiency, and contribute significantly to strategic decision-making.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Accounting and Reporting
- Oversee all general accounting operations, ensuring accurate and timely recording of all financial transactions in compliance with Indian GAAP/Ind AS and statutory requirements.
- Manage the timely completion of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and reports for internal and external stakeholders.
- Coordinate and manage the annual financial audit process with external auditors.
- Develop and maintain robust internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure data integrity.
Budgeting, Forecasting, and Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A)
- Lead the comprehensive annual budgeting process, working closely with all department heads.
- Develop and implement accurate financial forecasting models (P&L, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow) to project future performance and financial health.
- Conduct in-depth variance analysis of actual results against budget and forecast, providing actionable insights to management.
- Perform financial modeling and business case analysis to support strategic projects, capital expenditure decisions, and new product launches.
Treasury and Cash Flow Management
- Manage the company's working capital and optimize cash utilization.
- Develop and execute strategies for efficient cash flow management and forecasting.
- Manage banking relationships and oversee credit facilities and foreign exchange exposures.
Taxation and Compliance
- Ensure full compliance with all direct and indirect tax regulations (e.g., Income Tax, GST) in India.
- Oversee the timely and accurate preparation and filing of all corporate tax returns and other statutory filings.
- Manage tax assessments, inquiries, and audits, liaising with tax authorities and consultants.
Financial Control and Risk Management
- Establish and enforce policies and procedures to ensure strong financial control across all business processes, especially inventory (given the manufacturing nature).
- Monitor key financial performance indicators (KPIs) and identify areas for cost control and efficiency improvement.
- Assess and manage financial risks, including credit risk, market risk, and operational risk.
Qualifications and Skills
- Mandatory: Must be a qualified Chartered Accountant (CA) from the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI).
- Experience: Minimum of 10+ years of post-qualification experience in a senior finance role, preferably as a Finance Controller or Finance Head.
- Industry Experience: Prior experience in the manufacturing sector is highly desirable; experience in electronics, automotive components, or a similar high-technology sector is a significant advantage.
- Technical Proficiency: Deep understanding of accounting principles (Indian GAAP/Ind AS), corporate finance, and Indian tax laws.
- Software Skills: Proven proficiency with major ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Tally ERP, Zoho Books) and advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
- Leadership: Strong leadership, team management, and communication skills to effectively interact with senior management, staff, and external parties.
- Strategic Thinking: Ability to think strategically, analyze complex financial data, and translate it into clear business recommendations.
