Emeritus - Director - Campus Operations

Role Overview:

The Director - Campus Operations will be responsible for the end-to-end management of campus operations, ensuring a safe, efficient, compliant, and student-centric environment. This senior leadership role oversees all non-academic functions including Facilities, IT Operations, Security, Transportation, Food Services, Hostels, Landscaping, and allied support services.

The role also leads Health & Safety, Sustainability, Infrastructure Planning, Crisis Management, People Leadership, and Vendor Management, working closely with academic and administrative leadership to support the University's mission.

Key Responsibilities:

- Oversee day-to-day campus operations, ensuring seamless functioning of all support services.

- Develop and implement operational policies, SOPs, and service standards to drive quality, efficiency, and compliance.

- Partner with academic and administrative leaders to align operational support with academic schedules and institutional priorities.

- Lead, mentor, and manage in-house operational teams and outsourced service providers.

- Oversee maintenance, housekeeping, and upkeep of academic buildings, laboratories, hostels, recreational areas, and common facilities.

- Ensure preventive maintenance programs and timely resolution of infrastructure issues.

- Manage vendors and contractors for facilities, utilities, and infrastructure services.

- Ensure full statutory and regulatory compliance, including:

- Fire and life safety

- Building codes and occupancy norms

- Environmental and pollution control regulations

- Liaise with local authorities to maintain licenses, certifications, and approvals.

- Oversee campus IT infrastructure, including:

- Network and connectivity systems

- Data security and access controls

- Digital learning and classroom technology support

- Ensure reliable IT operations to support academic and administrative functions.

- Manage campus security operations, including security personnel deployment, surveillance systems, and access control.

- Develop and implement safety policies, emergency response plans, and disaster preparedness protocols.

- Lead crisis management during incidents, ensuring safety of students, staff, and visitors.

- Oversee transportation operations for students, faculty, and staff, ensuring safety, punctuality, and reliability.

- Supervise food services to ensure hygiene, quality standards, and cost-effectiveness.

- Manage hostel operations, ensuring student well-being, discipline, safety, and service quality.

- Maintain campus aesthetics through landscaping, cleanliness, and waste management initiatives.

- Drive sustainability and environmentally responsible practices across campus operations.

- Promote energy efficiency, water conservation, and green campus initiatives.

- Prepare and manage the annual campus operations budget across all functional areas.

- Monitor costs, optimize spend, and ensure financial discipline.

- Ensure adherence to statutory, regulatory, safety, and institutional governance standards.

Qualifications & Experience:

- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Management, or a related field (Master's degree preferred) , Minimum 15 years of experience in Operations, Facilities Management, or Campus Administration

- Preferably in education institutions, large corporates, infrastructure-heavy organizations, or defense establishments

- Candidates from defense services background are strongly encouraged to apply

- Proven experience leading large, multidisciplinary teams

- Strong expertise in vendor management, contract negotiation, and project execution

- Demonstrated ability to manage complex, high-stakes operational environments
