Description:
Role Overview:
The Area Sales Manager is responsible for achieving sales targets, developing business strategies, managing sales teams, and building strong customer relationships within a defined geographic area.
The role requires a result-driven professional with strong leadership skills, market knowledge, and the ability to drive revenue growth.
Key Responsibilities:
Sales Strategy & Planning:
- Develop and implement area-specific sales strategies to achieve revenue targets.
- Analyze market trends, competitor activities, and customer needs to identify new opportunities.
- Prepare territory plans, sales forecasts, and business reports for senior management.
Business Development:
- Identify and acquire new clients within the assigned area.
- Expand existing accounts by cross-selling or upselling additional products/services.
- Build strong relationships with decision-makers and key stakeholders in client organizations.
Team Management & Leadership:
- Lead, mentor, and motivate the sales team within the area to achieve targets.
- Monitor individual and team performance, providing coaching and guidance.
- Conduct regular team meetings, training sessions, and performance reviews.
Client Relationship Management:
- Maintain regular communication with clients to ensure satisfaction and retention.
- Address client queries, resolve issues, and ensure timely delivery of products/services.
- Conduct client visits, presentations, and negotiations as required.
Reporting & Analytics:
- Track and report sales performance, market feedback, and competitor insights.
- Maintain CRM data and ensure accurate documentation of all sales activities.
- Provide recommendations to senior management based on market intelligence.
Marketing & Promotion Support:
- Collaborate with the marketing team to implement promotional campaigns.
- Participate in trade shows, exhibitions, and events to promote products/services.
- Provide feedback on customer responses and market demands to improve offerings.
Experience:
- 4 - 8 years of experience in sales, business development, or territory management.
- Proven track record of achieving or exceeding sales targets.
- Experience managing a sales team or handling key accounts is preferred.
Skills & Competencies:
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
- Strong leadership, team management, and motivational skills.
- Ability to analyze market trends and translate them into actionable strategies.
- Proficiency in CRM tools, MS Office, and sales reporting.
- High level of customer orientation and problem-solving ability.
