About the role:

The GM Finance is the financial conscience of DriveX. As the company scales from a high-growth startup to a structured, multi-city operation, this role bridges entrepreneurial agility with institutional financial discipline. You will work directly with the CFO and founding team, shaping the capital story, ensuring unit economics are understood at every layer, and building a finance function that can support a potential public market journey.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Strategic Financial Leadership

- Architect and institutionalise financial policies, controls, and governance frameworks aligned to DriveX's growth stage and investor requirements.

- Partner with the CFO and business verticals (Sales, Production, marketing etc.,) to define financial strategy and unit-economics targets.

- Drive capital allocation decisions, evaluate ROI on new city/current city expansions and technology spends.

- Lead financial due-diligence support for fund-raising rounds, debt facilities, and strategic partnerships.

2. Budgeting, Forecasting & Business Partnering

- Own the Annual Operating Plan (AOP) process end-to-end - working with operations, marketing, supply chain, and tech teams to build bottom-up budgets.

- Prepare rolling cash forecasts and quarterly reforecasts, with variance commentary for the board and investors.

- Build dynamic financial models covering vehicle inventory economics, reconditioning cost, take-rate, warranty liability, and financing penetration.

- Identify cost arbitrage opportunities across procurement, logistics, and overheads without compromising growth.

3. Financial Reporting & Management Information

- Ensure accurate, timely monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements (P&L, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow) in compliance with IND AS.

- Prepare Board Packs, Investor Dashboards, and MIS reports with actionable insights on revenue, margins, working capital, and burn.

- Drive cohort-level analysis: track vehicle contribution margin, city-wise EBITDA, and channel profitability.

- Own consolidated reporting across DriveX.

4. Regulatory Compliance & Taxation

- Ensure 100% compliance with IND AS / GAAP, Companies Act, GST, TDS, Transfer Pricing, RBI NBFC norms (for lending), and other applicable statutes.

- Oversee timely filing of all statutory returns - GST, income tax, ROC, FEMA/RBI for foreign investments.

- Manage relationships with statutory auditors, tax consultants, and regulatory bodies.

- Proactively monitor regulatory changes impacting the used-vehicle and two-wheeler lending ecosystem.

5. Treasury, Working Capital & Risk Management

- Manage DriveX's day-to-day treasury: banking relationships, cash pooling, FD / liquid fund allocation, and payment gateway reconciliation.

- Optimise working capital tied up in inventory - monitor Days Inventory Outstanding (DIO) and drive faster cycle times.

- Structure and manage vehicle financing credit lines, warehouse financing, and NBFC co-lending arrangements along with Retail Finance.

- Develop a robust financial risk register - interest rate risk, GST audit exposure, credit risk on receivables, and fraud control.

6. Team Leadership & Finance Function Building

- Lead and mentor the finance team of 5-7 across accounting, FP&A, taxation, and collections.

- Build a performance-driven, tech-enabled finance function - drive adoption of ERP (Zoho / SAP B1 / Oracle), analytics tools, and process automation.

- Define clear KRAs, development plans, and succession pipelines for key finance roles.

- Foster cross-functional collaboration between finance, operations, and technology teams.

7. Audit Management & Internal Controls

- Coordinate statutory audits, internal audits, tax audits, and GST audits - ensure clean, timely closures.

- Implement and maintain a strong IFC (Internal Financial Controls) framework, particularly for high-volume, multi- city cash and vehicle transactions.

- Drive process improvements arising from audit findings and risk assessments.

Required Qualifications & Experience:

- Chartered Accountant (CA) - first or second attempt preferred; CPA / MBA (Finance) from a reputed institution considered.

- 8 - 12 years of progressive finance experience with at least 3-5 years in a senior leadership role.

- Prior experience in a high-growth startup, e-commerce, auto, mobility, fintech, or consumer tech company is strongly preferred.

- Demonstrated experience managing fund-raises, investor reporting, or IPO-readiness is a significant advantage.

- Deep knowledge of IND AS, GST, direct tax, and NBFC/lending regulatory frameworks.

- Proficiency in ERP systems (Zoho Books, SAP, Oracle, or equivalent), Excel/Google Sheets modelling, and BI tools.

- Strong leadership presence with the ability to operate at both a strategic and executional level.
