Role Overview:

- We are looking for a Director of Product - E-Commerce to lead the product vision, strategy, and execution for large-scale digital commerce platforms and customer experiences.

- This is a strategic and hands-on leadership role for a product leader who can build and scale high-performing e-commerce products and platforms, drive digital transformation, and translate business objectives into scalable technology-enabled product capabilities.

- The ideal candidate will combine strong product leadership, e-commerce expertise, technical understanding, customer-centric thinking, and organizational leadership.

- You should be comfortable moving between executive-level strategy discussions and detailed conversations around product capabilities, APIs, platform architecture, integrations, data, scalability, and customer journeys.

Key Responsibilities:

E-Commerce Product Strategy & Vision:

- Define and own the long-term product vision, strategy, and roadmap for e-commerce and digital commerce platforms.

- Align product strategy with overall business objectives, customer needs, technology strategy, and growth priorities.

- Identify opportunities to improve customer experience, conversion, engagement, retention, and overall commerce performance.

- Define clear product outcomes, KPIs, and success metrics across customer and business journeys.

- Build a scalable product roadmap covering multiple products, channels, customer segments, and markets.

- Balance customer needs, business priorities, technology investments, operational requirements, and regulatory considerations.

Build & Scale E-Commerce Platforms:

- Lead the development and evolution of scalable B2C e-commerce platforms supporting multiple products, channels, and customer journeys.

- Drive initiatives across key commerce experiences including:

1. Product discovery and search

2. Product detail and merchandising

3. Cart and checkout

4. Payments

5. Order management

6. Fulfilment and delivery

7. Returns and refunds

8. Customer account and loyalty experiences

9. Post-purchase engagement

- Identify common capabilities that can be built once and leveraged across multiple products and business units.

- Drive product initiatives from 0-to-1 development through 1-to-100 scaling and optimization.

- Build reusable, modular, and scalable product capabilities that can support evolving business requirements.

Platform & Technology Product Leadership:

- Partner closely with Engineering and Architecture teams to build modern, scalable, API-first commerce platforms.

- Drive modernization of fragmented or legacy systems into unified and scalable product ecosystems.

- Develop strong understanding of:

1. APIs and integrations

2. Microservices

3. Distributed systems

4. Cloud platforms

5. Data platforms

6. System architecture

7. Platform scalability and reliability

- Make informed product decisions considering scalability, performance, reliability, security, technical debt, and time-to-market.

- Challenge technical approaches constructively and ensure technology investments deliver measurable product and business value.

- Drive platform capabilities that enable faster development and innovation across multiple product teams.

Customer Experience & Growth:

- Own product initiatives that improve the end-to-end customer journey across digital commerce channels.

- Use customer insights, behavioral data, experimentation, and market trends to identify product opportunities.

- Drive improvements in key metrics such as:

1. Conversion

2. Average Order Value

3. Customer Engagement

4. Retention

5. Checkout Completion

6. Payment Success

7. Product Adoption

8. Customer Satisfaction

- Establish a culture of experimentation and continuous product improvement.

- Balance customer experience with commercial and operational objectives.

Product & Business Transformation:

- Lead large-scale product transformation initiatives across e-commerce and digital platforms.

- Drive simplification and modernization of complex product ecosystems.

- Identify opportunities to eliminate duplicated capabilities and improve platform efficiency.

- Partner with business and technology leadership to identify new digital commerce opportunities.

- Translate emerging technology capabilities into practical product opportunities and measurable business outcomes.

- Drive change across teams while maintaining strong alignment around product strategy and priorities.

Cross-Functional & Executive Leadership:

- Partner closely with Engineering, Architecture, Design, Data, Marketing, Finance, Operations, Supply Chain, Security, Risk, and Business teams.

- Build strong relationships with senior leadership and communicate product strategy, priorities, progress, and business impact effectively.

- Influence decisions across multiple functions and business units without relying solely on direct authority.

- Navigate complex stakeholder environments and competing priorities.

- Drive alignment across geographically distributed and cross-functional teams.

- Balance global product standards with market-specific customer and business requirements.

Product Organization Leadership:

- Build, lead, and scale a high-performing team of Product Managers, Senior Product Managers, and Product Leaders.

- Set a high bar for product thinking, customer obsession, execution excellence, and data-driven decision-making.

- Hire, mentor, coach, and develop product talent.

- Establish clear career paths, performance expectations, and development plans.

- Create strong product management practices around:

1. Product discovery

2. Customer research

3. Prioritization

4. Roadmap management

5. Experimentation

6. Product analytics

7. Outcome measurement

- Foster a culture of ownership, accountability, collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement.

Hands-On Product Execution:

- Remain actively involved in the highest-impact and most complex product initiatives.

- Translate business problems and customer needs into scalable product solutions.

- Drive execution across multiple product and engineering teams.

- Manage product dependencies, risks, priorities, and execution bottlenecks.

- Ensure initiatives move effectively from strategy and discovery through development, launch, adoption, and optimization.

- Establish product operating mechanisms, prioritization frameworks, and decision-making processes.

Required Experience:

- 13 - 16 years of experience in Product Management, with significant experience leading large-scale E-Commerce, Digital Commerce, Consumer Technology, or B2C products.

- Proven experience defining and executing product strategy for large-scale digital products or platforms.

- Strong track record of building and scaling products from 0-to-1 and 1-to-100.

- Experience leading multiple product teams and managing senior Product Managers / Product Leaders.

- Proven experience driving complex product transformation and modernization initiatives.

- Strong understanding of customer-facing digital commerce journeys.

- Experience working closely with Engineering, Architecture, Design, Data, and Business teams.

- Strong executive stakeholder management and influencing capabilities.

Preferred Background:

- Candidates from product-based technology companies, e-commerce, consumer internet, marketplaces, FinTech, SaaS, or large-scale digital platforms will be preferred.

- Experience working on platforms supporting large user bases, high transaction volumes, multiple product teams, multiple channels, or multi-market operations will be an advantage.

Education:

- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Technology, Business, or a related discipline.

- MBA/PGDM or equivalent management qualification will be an added advantage.

Compensation:

- Max salary is 1.4cr
