We are looking for a senior legal leader to head and scale Zolve's legal function as we expand across geographies, products, and regulatory landscapes. This role will serve as a strategic partner to the leadership team, driving legal strategy, managing risk, and enabling business growth in a highly dynamic fintech environment.
The Director - Legal / Lead Counsel will own end-to-end legal support across business verticals, lead high-impact strategic initiatives, and build robust legal frameworks for cross-border operations. This individual will be responsible for managing complex negotiations, advising on regulatory matters, and shaping the company's legal and compliance posture globally.
This role requires a combination of deep legal expertise, strong commercial acumen, and proven leadership capabilities to build and mentor a high-performing legal team.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Experience in drafting, reviewing, and negotiating software license agreements (saas), IT services contracts (e.g., Cloud and hosting agreements), IP licenses, online advertisement/marketing agreements, hardware purchase and leasing agreements, staffing contracts, IT development agreements, collaboration agreements, non-disclosure agreements, etc.
- Knowledge of legal and compliance issues, such as data protection issues, relating to cross-border transactions, FEMA, and RBI guidelines.
- Exposure to contract disputes, including dispute resolution and/or litigation (preferred)
- Requires working with senior leadership and advising them
QUALIFICATIONS
- Lead and oversee all legal matters across the organization, including commercial contracts, regulatory advisory, partnerships, product launches, and corporate governance
- Drive legal strategy aligned with business objectives, particularly for cross-border expansion, new market entry, and new product lines
- Independently lead complex, high-value negotiations with global partners, financial institutions, vendors, and regulators
- Provide expert legal guidance on cross-border transactions, including FEMA, RBI regulations, and international data protection/privacy laws
- Act as a trusted advisor to founders and senior leadership on legal, regulatory, and risk-related matters
- Establish, standardize, and scale legal processes, contract frameworks, and governance structures to support rapid growth
- Oversee dispute resolution strategy, manage litigation (if any), and engage with external counsel across jurisdictions
- Partner with compliance, risk, product, and business teams to ensure alignment with regulatory requirements and internal policies
- Stay ahead of evolving fintech, financial services, and global regulatory developments, and proactively guide the business
