About the role:

We are hiring a Director - Finance to own controllership and FP&A for a fast-scaling, high-volume business spanning our core B2B distribution and a smaller, growing quick-commerce line. You will run a clean, on-time close, keep the books audit-ready across every state we operate in, and turn unit economics into decisions that Operations, Growth and Category teams act on.

About the company:

We are a B2B e-commerce start-up solving last-mile logistics in India's Tier III and Tier IV cities. These markets are underserved by large logistics networks: order sizes are smaller, distances are longer and delivery costs are higher. We are building the distribution layer that gets goods to businesses in these towns reliably, on time and at a cost that works.

What you will own:

1. Controllership, accounting and reporting:

- Own month-end close, AP/AR, payroll accounting and MIS on a fixed close calendar, with a clear path to a faster close each quarter.

- Make sure every rupee that moves through the platform (B2B order payments, retailer credit and collections, quick-commerce orders, delivery-partner payouts, incentives, refunds and returns) is accounted for and reconciled.

- Set and document accounting policies under Ind AS, including revenue recognition across B2B distribution, quick commerce and any marketplace or commission models.

- Produce accurate monthly financial statements and city- and business-line P&Ls for leadership.

- Choose and implement the finance stack (ERP, expense and payout tooling) and integrate it with product and ops data so reporting is automated, not spreadsheet-driven.

2. FP&A and unit economics:

- Lead the annual operating plan, budgets, rolling forecasts and scenario planning.

- Own unit economics for B2B and quick commerce: contribution margin by city, category and customer, gross margin, average order value, cost per drop, route density, delivery-partner utilization, retailer acquisition cost and payback, and how quick commerce shares the cost of the B2B delivery network.

- Model new-city launches, category expansion and build-vs-partner decisions before we commit to them.

- Run monthly variance analysis against plan: explain what changed, why, and what we should do about it.

- Sit with Operations, Growth and Category teams so margin shapes decisions before they are made, not after.

3. Cash, treasury and settlements:

- Own cash-flow forecasting, burn tracking and working-capital management, including retailer credit, receivables ageing, inventory and supplier payables.

- Own delivery-partner payouts, cash-on-delivery and field collections, and settlement reconciliation across payment modes and cities.

- Manage banking, payment-gateway and payout-partner relationships, and set treasury policy.

4. Tax, compliance and audit:

- Own the statutory compliance calendar end to end: GST (including e-commerce operator obligations), TDS/TCS, direct tax, ROC/company law, and PF/ESI/professional tax where applicable, across every state we operate in.

- Lead statutory, internal and tax audits and act as the single point of contact for auditors.

- Ensure no penalties, notices or late filings, and audit-ready books at all times.

5. Internal controls, Finance Command Center and team:

- Design and run internal controls (IFC), approval matrices, segregation of duties and risk frameworks covering financial, operational, regulatory and counterparty risk.

- Build the Finance Command Center: a single source of truth with live dashboards for unit economics, city P&Ls, cash and growth levers.

- Present a monthly Finance Insights Deck to leadership with clear recommendations on where to put resources and when to change course.

- Lead and mentor the finance team across accounting, FP&A, tax and payouts, and raise its standards for accuracy, timeliness and compliance.

What we are looking for:

- CA with strong accounting depth. MBA would be an added plus.

- 12 - 16 years of experience, including 4 - 5 years leading a controllership or FP&A team.

- Deep hands-on controllership: month-end close, Ind AS, consolidation, reconciliations, and leading statutory, internal and tax audits with clean outcomes.

- Strong FP&A track record: built AOPs, rolling forecasts and unit-economics models that leadership used to make decisions.

- Working command of tax and compliance, including multi-state GST, TDS/TCS and e-commerce operator obligations.

- Has built finance systems, controls and reporting from the ground up, not only operated inside existing ones.

- Track record of improving margins and operational efficiency in a fast-moving, high-volume business, with measurable results.

- First-principles thinker who can break down an ambiguous problem, such as a city launch or a pricing change, and reach a clear recommendation. Comfortable learning and unlearning as the business evolves.
