About the Opportunity

We are working with a high-growth, venture-backed commerce platform operating at the intersection of distribution, retail, and on-ground sales execution, solving for large, underpenetrated markets in India.

The business is scaling rapidly with a multi-layered operating model involving physical distribution, partner-led sales, and high-frequency transactions, creating a uniquely complex financial environment.

This role is being created to build and own the financial backbone required to support scale, discipline, and investor readiness.

Role Context

The finance function is structured across two distinct pillars:

- Business Finance (BizFin): Focused on unit economics, growth, and decision support

- Finance & Accounts (this role): Focused on financial integrity, control, compliance, and reporting

This role will operate as a peer to BizFin leadership, owning end-to-end Finance & Accounts, including audit, compliance, treasury, and investor reporting.

Role Mandate

This is not a traditional accounting role.

This is a control tower role responsible for:

- Establishing financial discipline in a high-velocity, operationally complex environment

- Building systems that ensure accuracy, control, and scalability

- Enabling investor-grade reporting and fundraise readiness

- Driving cash visibility and reconciliation integrity

- Creating a single version of financial truth across the organisation

Key Responsibilities

1. Financial Closure, Audit & Compliance

- Own end-to-end accounting closure and statutory reporting

- Lead audits with high-quality standards and zero surprises

- Ensure compliance across GST, TDS, ROC, RBI and related regulations

- Build forward-looking audit readiness and documentation discipline

2. Liquidity, Treasury & Cash Visibility

- Establish strong cash flow forecasting and liquidity planning

- Ensure complete visibility across collections, payables, and bank positions

- Build reconciliation discipline across systems, operations, and finance

- Implement early-warning mechanisms for cash and working capital risks

3. Internal Controls & Financial Systems

- Design and implement controls across:

a. Cash flows

b. Inventory and reconciliation

c. Vendor and payment cycles

d. Multi-entity structures

- Balance speed and control, enabling scale without operational friction

- Strengthen process discipline across rapidly evolving business models

4. Investor Reporting & Fundraise Readiness

- Own monthly MIS and board-level reporting

- Build and maintain investor-ready financial data rooms

- Support diligence processes with structured, high-quality data

- Work closely with founders and stakeholders during fundraising cycles

5. Team Leadership & Cross-Functional Alignment

- Build and lead a lean, high-ownership Finance & Accounts team

- Work closely with BizFin, Operations, Product, and Leadership

- Establish clarity of ownership and accountability across finance processes

- Reduce dependency on external agencies and founder bandwidth

Ideal Candidate Profile:

Must-Have:

- Chartered Accountant with 12+ years of experience

- Strong experience in Finance & Accounts ownership roles

- Exposure to audit, compliance, and investor reporting

- Prior involvement in fundraise / diligence processes

- Experience in venture-backed or high-growth environments
