Our Client is a leader in Accounting, Tax & Advisory in the United States, with a GCC in Mumbai & Bangalore. We need a Director to head Client Accounting & Advisory Services (CAS) to lead and build a team in India which provides strategic accounting support, from day-to-day operations to high-level planning, so clients can focus on leading through their core competence, rather than finance & accounts.

Strategic accounting isn't just about getting the books done; it's about knowing what the numbers mean. This team handles the details and delivers insights that help the clients make confident decisions, stay compliant, and plan for what's next with precision and insight.

Key Result Areas:

1. Build a Scalable India CAS Capability:

Establish the foundation for a scalable CAS organization that supports US teams and clients without compromising quality, timeliness, or engagement economics.

- Building and scaling teams across accounting, bookkeeping, payroll, and financial reporting services.

- Overseeing engagement delivery across all levels, with clear delegation and review responsibilities.

- Establishing consistent processes for month-, quarter-, and period-end close, including account analysis, reconciliations, journal entries, transaction coding, and bookkeeping.

- Ensuring accurate preparation and review of workpapers, financial statements, payroll and sales tax reports, year-end forms, and other client deliverables before Partner involvement.

- Maintaining performance against project budgets, turnaround times, deadlines, quality standards, and engagement profitability.

- Using technology and automation to improve real-time accounting and standardize workflows.

2. Build Trusted Relationships across the Firm:

Act as a bridge between US CAS leadership, US engagement teams, clients, and the India organization.

- Building trusted partnerships with CAS Partners, Managing Directors, and service-line leaders.

- Coordinating engagement performance between India and US teams, including client interactions where needed.

- Understanding client and business priorities and translating them into clear execution plans.

- Helping stakeholders understand what India can realistically absorb, scale, and deliver.

- Actively seeking and providing feedback to strengthen the CAS practice.

3. Build a High-Performance CAS Culture:

Build an organization known for accounting excellence, responsiveness, accountability, and strong people leadership.

- Establishing clear expectations around ownership, accuracy, responsiveness, and execution.

- Providing mentoring, technical training, and ongoing feedback to CAS professionals.

- Evaluating team training needs and partnering with US learning teams on implementation.

- Building leadership maturity, sound judgment, and professional credibility across the organization.

- Strengthening succession pipelines and ensuring culture and capability scale alongside headcount.

Person Profile:

- 15+ years of accounting, bookkeeping, or CAS experience, including experience building, scaling, and leading teams supporting US clients.

- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field.

- CPA, CMA, or CA qualification preferred.

- Strong knowledge of US GAAP and the judgment to handle complex accounting issues.

- Experience overseeing accounting and payroll engagements, financial statement preparation and review, period-end close, and related client reporting.

- Demonstrated ability to lead multiple engagements, set priorities, and deliver accurately against budgets and deadlines.

- Ability to use technology and streamlined processes to improve accounting delivery; proficiency with Microsoft Office, QuickBooks, and relevant accounting platforms.

- Outstanding written and verbal communication, influencing, and relationship-building skills.
