This is an important in-house legal role as a member of our global legal team and will report jointly to a senior executive in our's India business in Mumbai, and to the US-based Assistant General Counsel. Primary responsibilities of this role would be to help advance the business while protecting the downside - i.e., assuring effective legal risk management and compliance. The individual would provide legal advice and legal services across a wide range of subject areas in domestic and international jurisdictions as described more fully below.  Responsibilities :  - Provide expert level advice and guidance to our India-based and US management and team members on general and specialized legal matters, including international and domestic commercial business transactions, contracts, intellectual property matters, litigation, and marketing and consumer protection matters.  - Review and advise on the Company's use of open source, third party intellectual property and related licensing issues.  Proactively address and provide guidance and training on legal, compliance, risk management and policy issues impacting the Company's operations, including :  - Addressing and working with our's internal security team on domestic and international data privacy and data security issues (e.g., EU Privacy Shield and General Data Protection Regulation)  - Reviewing marketing materials for compliance with US Federal Trade Commission (FTC) regulations and guidelines, including with the dot com disclosures and FTC endorsement policy, and any equivalent consumer protection regulations/guidelines in India, including the India IT Act  - Review of sweepstakes and contests rules and other promotions  - Compliance with various regulatory matters including the rules of the Office of Foreign Assets Control and the US Foreign Corrupt Practices Act and India Anti-Bribery Act  - Advising customer support on handling infringement matters including pursuant to the US Digital Millenium Copyright Act (DMCA), allegations of defamation, unlawful activity, or other activities in violation of our's Acceptable Use Policy, as may be modified for compliance with Indian laws as appropriate   - Advising on law enforcement preservation requests,subpoenas and court orders  - Assisting in the further development, implementation and overseeing of all legal and corporate policies.  - Assisting with the Company's international operations and growth in foreign jurisdictions.  - Advise and coordinate with management on legal implications of new business initiatives and activities in the U.S. and abroad.  - Advise on disputes and manage litigation including small claims matters, directly or through outside counsel, arising through customer support.  - Assist in management of external counsel, coordinating work and assuring timely, cost-effective and excellent external service and work product.  - Review for legal sufficiency and provide legal counsel and advice regarding licenses, leases and other contracts related to the company's offices, data centers and operations.  - Stay abreast of and advise on relevant policy and legal issues affecting the internet and the Company's business and customers.  - Contribute toward building a positive, collaborative work environment, building partnerships through teamwork and business-focused communication.  - Potential for travel domestically and internationally on a limited basis.  Qualifications :  The successful candidate must have the following experience, skills, and education :  - J.D. degree or equivalent law degree and applicable licensing/ bar membership.  - Years of corporate, IP and commercial transactional legal background, preferably at a major law firm and in-house.  - Strong communication skills, i.e., clear, concise and on-point, in English and local language, both orally and in writing,  - Strong transactional and general business and commercial law experience, including drafting and negotiating commercial contracts.  - Familiarity with US legal system, as well as India law.  - Proficient in regulatory and compliance matters, including those related to web hosting, domain registrations and other online services.  - Background in technology and computer science a plus.  - Experience in fast paced, high growth environments.  - Ability to build trusting partnerships with managers and executives and contribute to matters of strategic relevance.  - Self-starter and results oriented, with strong attention to detail and the ability to initiate and adapt to change.  - Highly effective negotiation and dispute resolution skills, solid business instincts and judgment.  - Strong analytical capabilities, creative and flexible problem-solving skills and decision making ability.  - Ability to juggle multiple projects and deadlines with ability to drive matters to timely resolution.  Benefits & Perks :  Our employees love their jobs, and not just because we offer the most competitive salaries in the industry.
