About the Role:
A 100-bedded multi-specialty hospital in Papua New Guinea is seeking a high-performing Chief Operating Officer to lead hospital-wide operations and support the next phase of growth. The role requires a strong execution-focused leader with deep experience in healthcare operations, systems building, quality improvement, and cross-functional team management.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure seamless day-to-day functioning of all clinical support and non-clinical departments.
- Build and implement SOPs, workflows, operational controls, and service standards.
- Track and improve KPIs including bed occupancy, patient flow, turnaround time, revenue, cost, and service quality.
- Partner with medical, nursing, and department heads to strengthen coordination and operational performance.
- Oversee budgeting, cost management, revenue optimization, and resource utilization.
- Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations, safety requirements, infection control, and statutory obligations.
- Drive patient experience, grievance management, and service recovery initiatives.
- Lead workforce planning, training, performance management, and leadership development.
- Support infrastructure planning, procurement, vendor management, and preventive maintenance.
- Prepare management reports, dashboards, and business reviews for senior leadership.
- Contribute to growth strategy, expansion readiness, and long-term operational sustainability.
Candidate Profile:
- MBA or postgraduate qualification preferred.
- Minimum 15 years of experience in hospital operations, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role.
- Experience in managing a 75200 bed multi-specialty hospital preferred.
- Strong understanding of hospital operations, quality systems, compliance, and patient flow management.
- Exposure to hospital expansion, greenfield setup, or turnaround operations will be an advantage.
