Location : Mumbai with extensive travel to project sites across India
Job Summary :
The Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO) will be responsible for developing and executing the overall Human Resource strategy in alignment with the organization's business objectives. The role requires leading all HR functions across corporate offices and multiple EPC project sites, ensuring a high-performance culture, workforce planning, talent acquisition, employee engagement, industrial relations, statutory compliance, leadership development, and digital HR transformation. The incumbent will act as a strategic business partner to the leadership team and drive organizational effectiveness for large-scale infrastructure projects.
HR Strategy & Leadership:
- Develop and implement HR strategies aligned with the company's vision and business goals.
- Partner with senior leadership to drive organizational growth and transformation.
- Lead the HR function across all corporate and project locations.
- Build a high-performance, people-centric organizational culture.
Talent Acquisition & Workforce Planning:
- Develop manpower planning strategies for infrastructure and EPC projects.
- Lead recruitment for corporate, engineering, project execution, commercial, finance, procurement, HSE, quality, and support functions.
- Build strong talent pipelines for critical and niche positions.
- Improve recruitment turnaround time and hiring quality.
Performance Management:
- Design and implement performance management systems.
- Drive goal setting, KPIs, performance reviews, succession planning, and career development.
- Ensure alignment between individual objectives and organizational goals.
Compensation & Benefits:
- Develop competitive compensation structures and incentive programs.
- Lead annual salary reviews, promotions, bonus planning, and benchmarking.
- Optimize employee benefit programs while maintaining cost efficiency.
Learning & Development:
- Establish leadership development and succession planning initiatives.
- Develop technical, behavioural, managerial, and safety training programs.
- Promote continuous learning across all functions.
Employee Engagement & Culture:
- Design employee engagement initiatives to improve retention and productivity.
- Strengthen employer branding and employee value proposition.
- Conduct employee satisfaction surveys and implement action plans.
Industrial Relations:
- Develop proactive industrial relations strategies.-
- Handle union negotiations and collective bargaining where applicable.
- Resolve grievances and maintain harmonious employee relations.
- Minimize industrial disputes and legal risks.
HR Operations & Compliance:
- Ensure compliance with all applicable labour laws and employment regulations.
- Oversee HR policies, employee documentation, payroll coordination, HR audits, and statutory compliance.
- Ensure compliance with labour codes, EPF, ESIC, CLRA, Factory Act, Shops & Establishments Act, POSH, and other applicable legislation.
Project HR Management:
- Establish HR systems for multiple project sites.
- Ensure timely mobilization and demobilization of manpower.
- Support large-scale infrastructure projects including: Highways, Metro Rail, Bridges, Tunnels, Railways, Marine Projects, Airports
- Standardise HR practices across all project locations.
HR Digital Transformation:
- Lead implementation and optimization of HRMS, ERP, and digital HR solutions.
- Develop HR dashboards and analytics for management decision-making.
- Automate HR processes to improve efficiency.
Policy Development & Governance:
- Formulate and update HR policies and SOPs.
- Ensure corporate governance and ethical HR practices.
- Drive diversity, equity, inclusion, and employee well-being initiatives.
Stakeholder Management:
- Collaborate with Business Heads, Project Directors, Functional Heads, Clients, Consultants, and Government Agencies.
- Represent HR in executive management meetings.
- Provide strategic HR insights to support business growth.

Preferred candidate profile :
Education :
- MBA / PGDM in Human Resources from a reputed institution.
- Additional qualifications in Labour Laws or Industrial Relations will be preferred.
Experience :
- 20 to 25 years of progressive HR experience.
- Minimum 10 years in a senior HR leadership role.
- Mandatory experience in Infrastructure, EPC, Construction, Engineering, or Heavy Industrial organizations.
- Experience managing HR for multiple project sites across India.
- Exposure to organizations with a workforce exceeding 5,000 employees is preferred.
