Job Overview:
You will be responsible for developing and executing strategies that maximise revenue, profitability, and market share. This role involves managing the end-to-end lifecycle of product categories, including developing , planning, pricing, partnerships, and marketing efforts. The Category Manager will collaborate closely with internal teams, such as sales, marketing, supply chain, and product development.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Category Strategy Development:
- Develop and implement category-specific strategies aligned with business goals and market trends.
- Identify new opportunities for growth, including new product lines, partnerships, and services.
- Conduct market research and competitive analysis to identify gaps, trends, and potential market share improvements.
2. Sales and Profitability Management:
- Drive category revenue growth and profitability through effective pricing strategies, promotions, and inventory management.
- Monitor category performance against key performance indicators (KPIs) such as sales, margins, and customer satisfaction.
- Work closely with the sales team to optimise category offerings and ensure alignment with customer needs.
3. Supplier and Partner Management:
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key and third-party vendors.
- Negotiate terms, pricing, and contracts to ensure competitive offerings and long-term partnerships.
4. Product Lifecycle Management:
- Manage the end-to-end lifecycle of products in the category, from product introduction to serving.
- Oversee product pricing, inventory levels, and product transitions to maximise profitability & NPS.
- Coordinate with marketing and product teams to ensure successful product launches and promotions.
5. Data Analysis and Reporting:
- Regularly analyse sales data, customer feedback, and market trends to refine category strategies.
- Develop reports and dashboards to monitor category performance and identify areas for improvement.
- Provide insights and recommendations to senior leadership based on data analysis.
6. Collaboration with Cross-Functional Teams:
- Work closely with product development, marketing, and technology teams to improve customer experience and category offerings.
- Coordinate with the marketing team to plan and execute category-specific promotions, advertising, and content strategies.
7. Customer Focus:
- NPS is king
- Actively gather and respond to customer feedback to improve the product offering and enhance customer experience.
- Ensure that customer satisfaction is at the forefront of all category management decisions.
Qualifications:
- Master's degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Supply Chain, or related fields.
- 4+ years of experience in category management, product management, or a similar role, preferably in the automotive / insurance /SAAS / tech services sector.
- Strong understanding of market dynamics, consumer behaviour, and pricing strategies.
- Proven experience with product lifecycle management and supplier relationship management.
- Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret data, derive insights, and drive strategic decisions.
- Strong negotiation, communication, and project management skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with cross-functional teams.
- Proficiency in using category management and analytics tools (e.g., Excel,SQL, Tableau, or similar).
