Business Head - Merchandising/BTL/Sampling Vertical

Role Overview

We are seeking a dynamic and result-driven Business Head to lead the BTL, Merchandising & Sampling vertical. This is a hardcore sales and revenue leadership role demanding strong business acquisition capabilities, strategic thinking, and proven expertise in agency-side BTL/activation sales. The ideal candidate will bring deep industry relationships, a consistent track record of exceeding sales targets, and the ability to scale a high-performing revenue vertical.

As the Business Head, you will own strategy, revenue, growth, and team leadership-driving the vertical's P&L and expanding our footprint across brands, trade marketing teams, and agencies.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Revenue & Business Growth (Primary):

- Own monthly, quarterly, and annual revenue targets with complete accountability.

- Drive aggressive acquisition of new business across:

- BTL activations

- Retail merchandising

- Sampling programs

- On-ground marketing campaigns

- Identify high-value opportunities and convert them into long-term strategic partnerships.

- Build and scale a sustainable revenue pipeline through constant market intelligence and outreach.

2. Client Acquisition & Senior-Level Selling:

- Pitch to Brand Heads, Marketing Directors, Trade Marketing leaders, and Category Heads.

- Present powerful sales narratives and solution-led proposals tailored to client goals.

- Build strong relationships across FMCG, retail, consumer electronics, lifestyle, and D2C brands.

- Lead high-stakes negotiations, pricing discussions, and contract closures.

3. Strategic Leadership & Vertical Expansion:

- Build the BTL / On-ground vertical from the ground up-vision, direction, structure, and scale.

- Identify new service offerings, market adjacencies, and business expansion opportunities.

- Strengthen agency positioning in BTL & merchandising through strategic brand partnerships.

4. Sales Team Leadership:

- Lead, mentor, and drive a Business Development / Sales team to deliver revenue outcomes.

- Set performance benchmarks, sales targets, and incentive mechanisms.

- Foster a high-performance, numbers-driven, result-oriented culture.

5. Collaboration & Cross-functional Alignment:

- Work closely with internal teams-strategy, creative, execution, finance-to ensure seamless delivery of commitments.

- Build sales frameworks, pitch templates, pricing strategies, and negotiation playbooks.

- Ensure pipeline hygiene, forecasting accuracy, and CRM discipline.

Mandatory Experience & Requirements:

Experience:

- 6+ years total experience, with 4-5 years in BTL / activation / merchandising sales from an agency.

- Proven experience selling on-ground marketing solutions to mid-market and enterprise brands.

- Demonstrated ability to close large, multi-city BTL programs.

Skills & Capabilities:

- Strong network with brand, marketing, and trade marketing leaders.

- Consistent history of meeting or exceeding revenue targets.

- High proficiency in solution selling, negotiation, and business planning.

- Ability to thrive in fast-paced, pressure-driven environments.

- Strong storytelling ability and proposal-building skills.

- Excellent communication, persuasion, and stakeholder management skills.
