Business Head/Chief Executive Officer - Steel Industry

Our client is a large and growing Steel Organization in Ethiopia. They are also executing a couple of greenfield projects in Pharma and more.

This requirement is for their Steel Organization which is Head-Quartered in Adis Ababa. This is a safe place to work and stay at. International schools available as well.

This is a hands-on operating CEO role with complete P&L responsibility, focused on driving operational excellence, strengthening systems and processes, building leadership capability, and delivering strong financial outcomes.

The role will work closely with Group Leadership and oversee key functions including Operations, Finance, Commercial, Supply Chain, Technical and HR.

Key Responsibilities

- Own full P&L responsibility and overall business performance

- Drive revenue growth, margin improvement and cash flow discipline

- Strengthen cost optimisation, capacity utilisation and operational processes

- Align execution with group strategy and long-term growth plans

- Implement data-driven systems, MIS and performance dashboards

- Build KPIs and accountability across all functional leaders

- Strengthen safety, compliance and operational governance

- Build strong relationships with customers, suppliers and key stakeholders

- Lead manufacturing operations and improve plant productivity & efficiency

Candidate Profile

- 15-22 years of leadership experience in manufacturing/operations-led businesses (< 50 years)

- Need not be from the steel / metals industry

- Proven P&L ownership and business leadership experience

- Strong financial, commercial and operational acumen

- Ability to drive operational excellence and measurable outcomes

- Systems-oriented leader with data-driven decision-making ability

- Comfortable operating in high-growth and high-accountability environments

- Experience working in diverse or multicultural environments preferred (Africa exp is not a must)

- Strong leadership presence with execution focus and ownership mindset
