Role Overview
The Business Development Manager Latin America will be responsible for driving commercial expansion across key LATAM markets for an Indian pharmaceutical company with international operations. The role will focus on building institutional and commercial partnerships, identifying market entry opportunities, and managing relationships with government bodies, distributors, and pharmaceutical companies across the region.
This position requires strong familiarity with regulatory pathways, tender processes, and partnership models across Latin American markets.
Key Responsibilities
Market Expansion & Strategy
- Develop and execute regional business development strategies across Latin America.
- Identify new market entry opportunities, including partnerships, licensing, distribution, and tender participation.
- Conduct market intelligence on regulatory requirements, pricing structures, and competitive landscape.
Partnership & Key Account Development
- Build and maintain relationships with:
- Government health authorities and procurement agencies
- Local pharmaceutical companies and distributors
- Institutional buyers and hospital networks
- Lead negotiations for distribution agreements, in-licensing/out-licensing, and strategic alliances.
- Manage existing partners and drive revenue growth across accounts.
Tender & Institutional Business
- Identify and participate in public and institutional tenders across LATAM markets.
- Coordinate with regulatory, supply chain, and finance teams to ensure compliant and competitive submissions.
- Track tender pipelines and maintain strong relationships with procurement bodies.
Regulatory & Cross-Functional Coordination
- Work closely with regulatory affairs teams on product registrations and approvals.
- Align with manufacturing, supply chain, and finance teams to ensure smooth execution of deals.
- Provide market feedback for product portfolio prioritisation.
Revenue & Performance
- Drive regional revenue targets and market share growth.
- Maintain accurate pipeline forecasting and reporting.
- Represent the company at regional conferences, trade shows, and partner meetings.
Candidate Profile
Experience
- 6 to 12 years in pharmaceutical business development or international marketing.
- Strong experience handling Latin American markets is essential.
- Proven track record of working with government tenders and institutional sales.
- Existing network with LATAM distributors, pharma companies, and regulatory bodies preferred.
- Bachelors in Pharmacy / Life Sciences.
- MBA (Marketing / International Business) preferred.
Skills & Competencies
- Strong understanding of the LATAM regulatory and tender environment.
- Fluency in Spanish is a strong advantage.
- Strong negotiation and partnership management skills.
- Ability to work across time zones and cultures.
- High ownership and execution orientation.
