Position Title: Business Development Manager

Reports To: Technical Director - Construction
Job Overview:
We are looking for a dynamic and highly connected individual to join our team as Business Development Manager. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in the Kinshasa/ Africa market, with a proven track record of identifying, nurturing, and securing new construction contracts. The candidate must be fluent in French & Lingala and have a robust network of contacts within the construction industry in Kinshasa. The role demands a strategic thinker who can leverage their relationships to drive business growth and expand the companys project portfolio.
Key Responsibilities :
Business Development Strategy:
- Develop and implement a comprehensive business development strategy to achieve company growth objectives.
- Identify and assess new market opportunities within the construction industry in Kinshasa.
- Build and maintain a robust pipeline of potential projects and clients.
Networking and Relationship Building:
- Leverage existing contacts and networks to generate leads for new construction contracts.
- Establish and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including government agencies, private sector clients, and industry influencers.
- Attend events, conferences, and meetings to expand the companys visibility and network.
Contract Acquisition:
- Lead the process of securing new construction contracts, from initial contact through to contract negotiation and closing.
- Collaborate with internal teams, including legal, technical, and financial departments, to ensure successful contract execution.
- Prepare and deliver compelling presentations and proposals to prospective clients.
Market Intelligence:
- Conduct market research to stay informed about industry trends, competitor activities, and potential business opportunities.
- Provide insights and recommendations to senior management based on market analysis and intelligence.
- Monitor the regulatory environment and ensure that business development activities comply with local laws and regulations.
Reporting and Analysis:
- Prepare detailed reports on business development activities, including lead generation, contract acquisition, and revenue growth.
- Analyze performance data to identify areas for improvement and inform strategic decision-making.
Required Qualifications:
Education:
- Bachelors degree in business administration, Marketing, Construction Management, or a related field.
Experience:
- 7 - 10 years of experience in business development, with a focus on the construction industry in Kinshasa or the broader Democratic Republic of Congo.
- Proven track record of securing large-scale construction contracts.
Skills and Competencies:
- Strong networking skills with an established network of contacts in the Kinshasa construction market.
- Fluent in French, English, and Lingala.
- Excellent negotiation and contract management skills.
- Strategic thinking with the ability to identify and capitalize on market opportunities.
- Client-centric with strong communication and presentation skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
