We are seeking an experienced and business-minded legal professional to join the organization as Associate General Counsel.

- This role will partner closely with business and functional leaders to provide practical, proactive legal advice that supports strategic priorities while ensuring compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and internal policies.

- The Associate General Counsel will play a key role in identifying, assessing, and mitigating legal and regulatory risk, strengthening governance frameworks, and advising on the legal implications of important business decisions.

- The position will support complex commercial matters, contracts, compliance initiatives, and dispute management, while helping to develop policies and processes that protect the organizations interests and enable sustainable growth.

Key Responsibilities:

The Associate General Counsel will serve as a key legal partner to the business, providing practical, risk-based guidance and supporting informed decision-making across a range of complex legal and operational matters.

- Provide senior legal support to business and functional leaders in India, advising on corporate governance, legal risk, regulatory interpretation, and significant business decisions.

- Partner closely with leadership to identify, assess, and mitigate legal and regulatory risks, offering clear, practical recommendations.

- Strengthen local governance frameworks, escalation protocols, and reporting practices to align with broader organizational standards.

- Lead the drafting, review, and negotiation of complex commercial agreements, including technology, services, vendor, licensing, and strategic partnership arrangements.

- Maintain accountability for legal risk positioning and outcomes across commercial and operational activities.

- Develop and support policies, playbooks, and governance materials to enhance consistency, efficiency, and compliance.

- Conduct legal and contractual risk assessments and support related decision-making processes.

- Manage external counsel relationships and oversee disputes, litigation, and pre-litigation matters.

- Provide legal support for mergers and acquisitions and other corporate transactions.

- Exercise sound judgment in ambiguous or high-impact situations, identifying material risks and escalation needs.

- Clearly escalate significant legal issues with defined options and actionable recommendations for leadership.

- Support compliance initiatives and regulatory matters affecting operations in India.

- Foster a culture of ethics, integrity, accountability, and commercially grounded decision-making within the organization.

Experience & Capabilities:

- The ideal candidate will bring at least 15 years of post-qualification legal experience, including meaningful experience in a senior in-house legal role or at a respected law firm.

- The role requires strong commercial contracting expertise, demonstrated success advising senior stakeholders on significant legal and regulatory matters, and demonstrated experience handling mergers and acquisitions and litigation matters.

- The ideal candidate should also possess the judgment to navigate ambiguity with confidence and clear accountability.

- Experience across compliance, disputes, employment, data protection, or related regulatory matters will be valuable, as will the ability to work effectively with cross-border stakeholders in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications:

Candidates should hold a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) from a recognized university in India and be qualified to practice in the relevant jurisdiction.
