Role Summary: The Guardian of Financial Integrity
As the Associate Director of Risk & Compliance, you are the final line of defense for the payment ecosystem. You will be responsible for building and implementing robust policies to manage financial crime risks, including Anti-Money Laundering (AML) and fraud prevention, across all payment products (PG, Payouts, Global Collections). This is a strategic leadership role where you will safeguard the brands reputation while enabling rapid business growth within the boundaries of RBI, NPCI, and VISA/Mastercard guidelines.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Policy Development & Oversight:
- Financial Crime Framework: Design and maintain comprehensive policies for AML, KYC, and fraud detection mechanisms.
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure 100% adherence to evolving Indian regulatory laws, translating complex RBI/NPCI circulars into actionable product interventions.
- Fraud Strategy: Lead the "Fraud Risk Strategy" to mitigate risks in merchant onboarding (KYB) and real-time transaction monitoring.
Operational Leadership & Law Enforcement (LEA):
- Operations Management: Lead a high-performing team of risk analysts to manage Fraud and AML operations, including merchant reviews and escalation handling.
- LEA Coordination: Supervise the response to summons and data requests from Law Enforcement Agencies (LEAs), ensuring timely and compliant data sharing.
- Recovery & Dispute Management: Oversee the recovery of outstanding dues from merchants and manage high-value chargeback/dispute cycles with banking partners.
Relationship & Stakeholder Management:
- Banking Partnerships: Manage risk/compliance relationships with leading partner banks to ensure seamless settlement and risk alignment.
- Founder Alignment: Work directly with senior leadership to report on risk metrics and foster a culture of "Compliance-by-Design" across the organization.
Required Qualifications:
- Experience: 10+ years in policy development, fraud strategy, and financial crime risk management within a fast-paced Fintech or Payment aggregator.
- Technical Mindset: While non-IT, you must be proficient in data-driven decision-making and comfortable with risk management software/tools.
- Stakeholder Mastery: Proven ability to liase with regulators, internal product teams, and high-level banking influencers.
