Associate Director - Technical Accounting / DPP Accounting

About the Role:
We are looking for an Associate Director - Technical Accounting to lead and support complex technical accounting and financial reporting matters for US-based stakeholders.
The role will provide technical accounting leadership across IFRS and US GAAP, with responsibility for researching complex accounting matters, developing and reviewing technical accounting guidance, monitoring global standard-setting developments and supporting the resolution of significant financial reporting issues.
The Associate Director will work closely with senior accounting professionals, subject matter experts and US-based stakeholders and will be expected to provide high-quality technical insights, challenge existing positions, influence stakeholders and drive complex projects to completion.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and oversee complex technical accounting research and advisory assignments involving IFRS and US GAAP.
- Provide technical accounting guidance on complex and judgmental accounting matters.
- Draft, review and approve IFRS and US GAAP technical accounting guidance, interpretations, position papers and illustrative examples.
- Monitor developments and projects issued by the IASB and FASB and assess their implications for financial reporting and accounting practices.
- Lead research and analysis of new accounting standards, amendments and emerging accounting issues.
- Review and challenge technical accounting conclusions developed by team members and provide appropriate direction.
- Collaborate with senior professionals and US-based accounting teams on complex accounting matters and financial reporting issues.
- Support the preparation and review of illustrative financial statements, accounting disclosures and other technical publications.
- Lead the development and maintenance of technical accounting knowledge resources and internal guidance.
- Present complex technical accounting topics and regulatory developments to senior stakeholders and leadership teams.
- Represent the technical accounting function in internal meetings, working groups and external-facing forums such as webcasts and podcasts, where required.
- Build strong relationships with senior stakeholders and act as a trusted technical accounting advisor.
- Identify emerging accounting risks and proactively recommend practical, technically sound solutions.
- Lead multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring high-quality deliverables and adherence to timelines.
- Provide coaching, mentoring and technical guidance to junior and senior team members.
- Review team deliverables and ensure consistency, technical accuracy and alignment with applicable accounting standards.
- Contribute to process improvement, knowledge management and strategic initiatives within the technical accounting function.
Educational Qualification:
Candidates should hold one of the following professional qualifications:
- CA
- CPA
- ACCA
Active membership is required.
Experience Required:
- 10+ years of post-qualification experience in technical accounting, accounting advisory, financial reporting or a closely related function.
- Extensive and recent experience in applying and interpreting IFRS and US GAAP is mandatory.
- Strong experience in researching and resolving complex and judgmental accounting matters.
- Experience working in a Big 4 National Office, Technical Accounting function, Accounting Advisory practice, Capital Markets Group or similar function is strongly preferred.
- Experience advising large, complex or multinational organizations on accounting and financial reporting matters is preferred.
- Strong experience with external audits, financial reporting and accounting advisory matters.
- Experience dealing with US GAAP / IFRS / IAS / FASB / IASB developments is highly desirable.
