Role Overview:

We are seeking a seasoned legal professional to join our leadership team in Mumbai as AVP/VP Legal. In this pivotal role, you will serve as the primary custodian of the organizations non-litigation legal framework, ensuring that our NBFC operations remain robust, compliant, and strategically aligned with business objectives. You will work closely with the Board of Directors, senior management, and cross-functional teams including Finance, Credit, and Risk to navigate complex regulatory landscapes. By spearheading contract management, corporate finance initiatives, and proactive risk mitigation, you will directly influence the companys growth trajectory and ensure seamless execution of high-stakes financial projects.

Key Responsibilities:

- Oversee the end-to-end contract management lifecycle to safeguard the companys interests in diverse lending and corporate agreements.

- Lead regulatory compliance efforts by ensuring strict adherence to RBI guidelines and other statutory requirements relevant to the NBFC sector.

- Manage complex project finance and corporate finance transactions by providing precise legal structuring and advisory support to the business teams.

- Conduct comprehensive legal due diligence for investments and strategic partnerships to minimize exposure and ensure operational integrity.

- Direct legal operations and project management initiatives to streamline internal workflows and enhance the efficiency of the legal department.

- Implement and monitor AML frameworks to ensure the organization maintains the highest standards of financial integrity and regulatory reporting.

- Collaborate with external counsel and internal stakeholders to manage litigation risks, ensuring that potential disputes are mitigated through proactive legal intervention.

Required Skillset:

- Demonstrated expertise in Corporate Law and the regulatory environment governing the Indian BFSI sector, with a proven ability to translate complex legal requirements into actionable business strategies.

- Exceptional proficiency in drafting, negotiating, and managing high-value commercial contracts, credit facilities, and security documentation.

- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to influence senior stakeholders and communicate complex legal risks in a clear, concise manner.

- Proven ability to lead and mentor high-performing legal teams while fostering a culture of accountability and operational excellence.

- A degree in Law (LLB/LLM) from a premier institution, complemented by a sharp analytical mindset and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, on-site corporate environment in Mumbai.

- High degree of adaptability in managing cross-functional projects and a proactive approach to identifying and mitigating enterprise-wide risks.
