Job Description Financial Controller (AVP/VP):

Location: Gurugram

Experience: 1215 years

Function: Controllership, Accounting & Compliance

Reporting to: Chief Financial Officer (CFO)

Qualification: CA mandatory

Role Summary:

The Financial Controller will lead the controllership and corporate accounting function, ensuring accurate financial reporting, strong governance, disciplined accounting operations, and regulatory compliance in a fastpaced NBFC environment. The role oversees accounting, audits, AP/AR, ESOP accounting, regulatory reporting, and internal controls. The Controller will work in close coordination with the FP&A team, the Tax team, Treasury, and business/support functions, while these teams continue to own their respective domains.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Financial Reporting & Controllership

- Lead monthly, quarterly, and annual closure of books as per INDAS and NBFC standards.

- Ensure accuracy of P&L, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow, schedules, reconciliations, provisions, and disclosures.

- Oversee GL hygiene, accounting policies, documentation, and internal controls.

2. Accounts Payables & Receivables

- Oversee AP & AR including vendor management, payouts, ageing, reconciliations, and process controls.

- Improve turnaround time, approval hierarchy adherence, and financial discipline.

- Drive automation and system improvements across AP/AR and GL processes.

3. Audit & Compliance

- Lead statutory audit, internal audit, tax audit, and compliance reviews endto-end.

- Ensure accurate, timely financial submissions to RBI and other regulators.

- Own auditor interactions, data readiness, and closure of audit observations.

4. Coordination with FP&A, Tax & Treasury

- Coordinate with FP&A on postclosure numbers, data consistency, and reporting alignment.

- Coordinate with Tax for provisioning, reconciliations, and audit inputs (Tax team owns tax execution).

- Support Treasury on accounting for borrowings, interest, ALM inputs, and liquidity reporting.

- Work with business/support teams for correct accounting of expenses, revenue, and provisions.

5. ESOP Accounting

- Manage ESOP fair valuation, amortisation, vesting schedules, and disclosures.

- Liaise with HR and external valuers to ensure accurate ESOP reporting.

6. Financial Systems & Processes

- Strengthen ERP configurations, reporting structures, and accounting workflows.

- Maintain SOPs across finance operations and drive process improvements.

7. Team Leadership

- Lead, mentor, and upskill the accounting & controllership team.

- Build a culture of accuracy, compliance, and accountability.

Key Skills & Competencies:

- Strong understanding of NBFC accounting, INDAS, RBI reporting norms, and governance practices.

- Handson expertise in AP/AR, GL accounting, reconciliations, and audits.

- Familiarity with ESOP valuation concepts preferred.

- High analytical ability and attention to detail.

- Ability to work effectively with FP&A, Tax, Treasury, Business, HR, Legal, and Compliance.

- Proficiency in ERP systems and advanced Excel.

Qualifications:

- CA (Chartered Accountant) mandatory.

- 12 to 15 years of experience in accounting/controllership roles, ideally in NBFC/BFSI.

- Experience in audits, regulatory reporting, and accounting governance preferred.
