Job Overview:
We are seeking a highly experienced and technically proficient finance leader to join our team as an Assistant Vice President. In this critical role, you will lead and execute complex accounting projects with a primary focus on US GAAP and IFRS consulting and implementation. You will act as a subject matter expert, guiding the organization through technical accounting challenges and ensuring compliance with the highest standards of financial reporting. This role requires a strategic thinker with deep experience from a Big 4 firm, capable of managing multiple projects and leading a team of senior finance professionals.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage US GAAP and IFRS implementation projects from initiation to completion.
- Provide expert technical accounting guidance and consultation to senior management and business units on complex transactions and new accounting standards.
- Research, analyze, and interpret new and existing accounting pronouncements (US GAAP, IFRS, US STAT), developing practical solutions and implementation strategies.
- Oversee the preparation and review of financial statements and disclosures, ensuring accuracy and compliance with all regulatory requirements.
- Manage the accounting for investments and other complex financial instruments, with a preference for deep insurance industry knowledge.
- Provide coaching, mentorship, and performance feedback to team members, fostering a culture of continuous learning and high performance.
- Build and maintain strong professional relationships with internal stakeholders across various departments and lines of business.
- Exercise sound judgment and discretion in all communications with internal and external parties.
- Handle multiple tasks and projects simultaneously, prioritizing effectively to meet strict deadlines.
- Perform other finance and administrative duties as required.
Qualifications:
1. Education:
- Chartered Accountant (CA) or Certified Public Accountant (CPA) qualification is required.
2. Experience:
- Total: 18+ years of progressive working experience.
- Specific: At least 13+ years of experience in US GAAP/IFRS consulting and implementation.
- Background: Prior experience from a Big 4 accounting firm is essential.
3. Technical Skills:
- Extensive and in-depth knowledge of US GAAP, IFRS, and US STAT accounting guidance.
- Proven ability to analyze complex technical pronouncements and apply them in a practical setting.
- Sound technical and research skills with a demonstrable application of various accounting standards.
- Extensive knowledge of financial statement preparation and complex disclosures.
- Preferred: Deep experience in the insurance industry and investment accounting.

- Language: Proficiency in English is mandatory.
