Title: Assistant Vice President - Finance
Reporting: CEO
Immediate Joiners with Notice Period < 30 days preferred
Role mandate:
You will own the full finance charter for a fast-scaling mutual fund AMC-financial controllership, regulatory-ready reporting, unit economics, governance, and decision support-and build a finance function that can scale cleanly with growth. This is effectively the Head of Finance role for the AMC, working as a close partner to the CEO and the Board/Committees.
Financial controllership (AMC + schemes oversight):
- End-to-end books of accounts, period close, financial statements and audit readiness for the AMC (Ind AS / applicable standards).
- Governance and oversight of scheme accounting / NAV ecosystem in partnership with Fund Accounting, RTA, Custodian, and auditors-ensuring tight controls, reconciliations, and exception management.
- Own accounting policies, control framework, and segregation of duties; drive zero-surprise audits.
Regulatory, compliance & governance (finance lens):
- Ensure finance-led compliance across SEBI MF Regulations, circulars/master circular requirements, and AMC governance expectations (disclosures, reporting hygiene, board packs, control attestations).
- Own the finance interface with Trustees/Board, internal committees, and external stakeholders on financial reporting, accounting risk, and audit outcomes (statutory + internal + concurrent audits).
- Build a "regulator-ready" culture: documentation, traceability, and evidence-based sign-offs.
Planning, unit economics & CEO decision support:
- Lead annual operating plan, budgets, rolling forecasts, and variance analytics.
- Own AMC unit economics: AUM-linked revenue, TER/fee mechanics, people and vendor cost models, break-even scenarios, and scaling levers.
- Deliver crisp dashboards for CEO/leadership: profitability, cost drivers, runway, productivity, and scheme-level economics.
Expense governance & vendor commercial rigor:
- Create strong expense controls: PO discipline, vendor governance, invoice hygiene, approval matrices, and cost benchmarks.
- Commercial ownership of key finance-linked vendor relationships (audit firms, fund accounting, RTA interfaces, systems), ensuring SLAs and performance.
Treasury, cashflow & financial risk management:
- Own AMC cashflow, liquidity planning, banking relationships, and treasury operations (AMC level).
- Identify and mitigate finance/reporting risks; ensure robust controls around financial reporting risk governance (a key CFO/finance leadership expectation in AMCs).
Build and lead the finance function:
- Hire, coach, and run a lean, high-output team across controllership, FP&A, payables, and reporting.
- Drive automation and process redesign to reduce close timelines and improve control quality (finance should not be a bottleneck).
Must-have experience:
- 10 to 12 years in finance, with significant leadership in AMC / Mutual Fund / Asset Management / BFSI (strong preference for mutual fund ecosystem exposure).
- Proven ownership of controllership + audit + regulatory reporting in a regulated environment.
- Strong working knowledge of Ind AS, internal controls, process governance, and compliance driven financial reporting.
- Track record of building MIS/FP&A that influences business decisions (not just reporting).
- Hands-on exposure to fund accounting / NAV control environment, reconciliations, concurrent audits, and third-party operating models (RTA/Custodian interfaces).
- Experience engaging with senior leadership/Boards and managing regulator-grade documentation.
- Ability to design finance processes for scale (automation mindset).
