About the Role:
We are seeking an experienced US Tax professional specializing in Partnership Tax (Form 1065) and State & Local Tax (SALT) to join our growing tax practice. The ideal candidate will have 5+ years of hands-on experience in US partnership tax compliance with strong exposure to multi-state SALT filings. This role requires a detail-oriented individual who can manage complex partnership structures, ensure compliance with federal and state regulations, and collaborate effectively with onshore teams and clients.
Key Responsibilities :
- Prepare, review, and manage US Partnership tax returns (Form 1065), including related schedules and disclosures.
- Handle multi-state SALT compliance, including state partnership returns, extensions, estimated payments, and related filings.
- Review and analyze K-1s, partner allocations, and supporting workpapers to ensure accuracy and compliance.
- Assist in state apportionment, allocation, and nexus analysis for partnership entities.
- Coordinate with onshore teams, tax managers, and clients to gather required information and resolve technical or compliance-related queries.
- Ensure timely filing of returns and adherence to internal quality standards and statutory deadlines.
- Perform technical research on SALT and partnership tax matters and document conclusions.
- Identify process improvements, best practices, and automation opportunities to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
- Provide guidance and technical support to junior team members and review their work where required.
- Support client communications related to notices, state tax authority queries, and compliance follow-ups.
Required Qualifications & Experience:
- 5+ years of experience in US Tax compliance, with a strong focus on Form 1065 and SALT.
- Proven experience in partnership taxation and multi-state filings.
- Working knowledge of US federal and state tax regulations applicable to partnerships.
- Hands-on experience with US tax software such as GoSystems, OneSource, UltraTax, or similar tools.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with high attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple engagements and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills for effective coordination with global teams and clients.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Prior experience with Big 4, mid-tier accounting firms, or large US tax practices.
- Exposure to SALT concepts such as composite returns, withholding, and state audits.
- Experience mentoring or reviewing work of junior team members.
- Professional qualification such as CA, CPA, EA, or MBA (Finance) is an advantage.
