Assistant Manager - Contract Management/Legal - Banking/NBFC/FinTech - LLB/LLM

Experience: 2-3 years in financial services

Education: Bachelor's degree in Law (LLB); LLM preferred

Experience in:

- Corporate and commercial law

- Managing external legal counsel

- M&A and Project Finance

- Legal strategy for financial services and mortgage lending

Role Summary:

We're seeking a proactive and business-savvy legal professional to join our team as Legal Counsel. This role demands sharp legal acumen, strategic foresight, and collaborative spirit to support a rapidly scaling financial services business. The ideal candidate will advise on legal risks, regulatory frameworks, and compliance matters while drafting and managing legal documentation across lending, operations, and governance.

Key Responsibilities:

1) Legal Advisory & Risk Management:

- Counsel business operations with professional, cost-effective, and creative legal support

- Anticipate, research, and manage legal risks arising from business decisions and operations

- Apply effective risk management techniques and offer proactive advice on legal issues

- Maintain current knowledge of legislative changes and implement updated company directives

2) Documentation & Drafting:

- Draft and solidify agreements, contracts (including lending-related), NDAs, and other legal documents

- Vet legal documents and provide clarification on legal language across departments

- Draft replies and legal correspondence related to court actions and regulatory matters

- Prepare MIS reports across all locations and maintain legal documentation trackers

3) Compliance & Governance:

- Assist in implementing and maintaining the company's compliance program, policies, and training

- Monitor internal governance policies and ensure regulatory compliance

- Promote awareness of legal and compliance requirements across business teams

- Advise on NBFC regulatory frameworks and typical finance industry contracts

4) Litigation & External Liaison:

- Draft and file criminal complaints/FIRs

- Liaise with advocates, consultants, regulators, and public authorities

- Represent the legal department in interactions with country management and business units

- Handle administrative procedures and litigation matters with public authorities

5) Strategic Legal Support:

- Advise on corporate matters, procurement, safety, insurance, and sustainability

- Support expansion activities with strategic legal guidance

- Collaborate with Finance, Operations, HR, and other cross-functional teams
