Role Overview:

As the AGM - Finance & Accounts, you will be the financial backbone of our Foundation, ensuring the integrity and accuracy of all financial operations. Your day-to-day will involve overseeing accounting procedures, managing budgets, ensuring compliance, and providing strategic financial insights to the leadership team. You will collaborate closely with program teams, auditors, and external stakeholders to optimize financial performance and support the Foundation's mission. Your expertise will directly impact the Foundation's ability to effectively allocate resources and achieve its philanthropic goals.

Key Responsibilities:

- Oversee all aspects of financial accounting, including general ledger, accounts payable/receivable, and bank reconciliations, ensuring accuracy and compliance with accounting standards for the Foundation.

- Develop and manage the Foundation's annual budget, working collaboratively with program teams to align financial resources with strategic objectives, enabling effective program implementation.

- Prepare and present timely and accurate financial reports to the Board of Trustees and senior management, providing insights into financial performance and supporting informed decision-making.

- Ensure compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and reporting requirements, including those specific to Trusts and Foundations, mitigating financial and legal risks.

- Manage the annual audit process, liaising with external auditors to ensure a smooth and efficient audit, resulting in unqualified audit opinions and maintaining the Foundation's financial reputation.

- Develop and implement robust internal controls to safeguard the Foundation's assets and prevent fraud, ensuring the responsible stewardship of donor funds.

- Provide financial guidance and support to program teams, assisting them in developing budgets, tracking expenses, and evaluating the financial impact of their programs, maximizing the effectiveness of program delivery.

- Manage and mentor a team of finance professionals, fostering a culture of excellence, collaboration, and continuous improvement within the finance department, enhancing team performance and morale.

Required Skillset:

- Demonstrated expertise in financial accounting, reporting, and analysis, including a deep understanding of accounting principles and practices relevant to Trusts and Foundations.

- Proven ability to develop and manage budgets, analyze financial data, and provide strategic financial recommendations to senior management.

- Strong knowledge of relevant laws, regulations, and reporting requirements for non-profit organizations, including those specific to Trust Accounting and Foundation Accounting.

- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively communicate financial information to both financial and non-financial audiences.

- Demonstrated leadership skills, with the ability to manage and motivate a team of finance professionals.

- Qualified Chartered Accountant (CA) or equivalent professional accounting qualification.

- Ability to thrive in a dynamic and collaborative work environment, demonstrating adaptability and problem-solving skills.
