Area Sales Manager

Job Overview:
We are seeking a results-driven Area Sales Manager based in Chennai to lead the sales of SLM (assuming a specific product/service line) through our dealer network. You will be responsible for driving market share growth, managing sales forecasts, ensuring dealer effectiveness, and maintaining strong relationships with all stakeholders to achieve ambitious sales targets.
Responsibilities
Sales & Target Achievement:
- Drive the sales of SLM (Product/Service Line) exclusively through our network of authorized dealers.
- Achieve agreed-upon monthly and quarterly sales targets.
- Ensure the average selling price as agreed upon is consistently met.
Forecasting & Planning:
- Develop and implement model-wise and dealer-wise sales forecasting and planning, both monthly and quarterly.
Market Share Growth:
- Strategize and execute plans to increase market share across the states, aiming to reach 3% in the 2025-2026 fiscal year.
Dealer Network Management:
- Ensure the appointment of an optimal number of sales staff at each dealer's end to effectively cover their assigned territory.
- Provide comprehensive training and hands-on support to dealer sales teams to enhance their product knowledge and sales capabilities.
- Ensure dealer adherence to the Dealer Agreement in both word and spirit.
- Oversee and ensure adequate numbers of sales promotion activities are conducted within each dealer's territory.
- Maintain strong relationships with financiers to facilitate sales.
Lead & Payment Management:
- Ensure participation in 70% of all SLM enquiries.
- Ensure the collection of payments within the defined timelines.
Required Skills & Qualifications
Experience:
- Proven experience in sales management, preferably within a dealer network or channel sales model.
- Strong track record of achieving and exceeding sales targets.
- Experience in forecasting and sales planning.
- Demonstrated ability to grow market share.
Dealer & Channel Management:
- Experience in dealer appointment, management, and relationship building.
- Ability to train and develop sales teams.
- Knowledge of sales promotion activities and their effective implementation.
- Experience in payment collection and managing relationships with financiers.
Business Acumen:
- Strong understanding of sales processes, market dynamics, and competitive landscapes.
- Ability to analyze sales data and translate it into actionable strategies.
Communication & Interpersonal Skills:
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
- Ability to build and maintain strong professional relationships with dealers, customers, and internal teams.
Drive & Independence:
- Highly self-motivated and results-oriented.
- Ability to work independently and manage a sales territory effectively.
