Role Overview: We are seeking a legal professional with strong alternative investment funds expertise to join our fast-growing team. In this role, you will serve as a subject matter expert (SME) for analyzing fund-level agreements between general partners (GPs) and limited partners (LPs). You will also serve as the critical link between our AI-driven data extraction systems and our legal operations. You will oversee and verify the systems outputfrom LPAs, side letters, and other legal documents ensuring the accuracy and reliability of data extracted by our AI platform. You will also be responsible for training junior team members and mentoring them in reviewing and validating the output generated by the AI platform.

Key Responsibilities:

- Human in the Loop Oversight:

- Act as the lead reviewer of AI-extracted data, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and compliance with industry standards.

- Verify the output from Limited Partnership Agreements (LPAs), side letters, and related legal documents against source material to correct discrepancies and inconsistencies.

- Train junior team members and maintain quality controls through oversight.

- Subject Matter Expertise:

- Leverage understanding of alternative investment funds, LPAs, and side letters to identify key data points and legal provisions necessary for complying with regulatory, reporting and operational requirements.

- Provide expert insights to product, R&D and operations teams on contract structure, key provisions and fund obligations.

- Quality Assurance and Data Validation:

- Develop and execute quality control protocols and validation checklists for legal document data extraction.

- Document anomalies, validate corrections, and ensure that all extracted data meets predefined accuracy thresholds.

- Feedback and Iterative Improvement:

- Collaborate with AI developers and product teams to relay findings, common error patterns, and areas for algorithmic improvement.

- Assist in refining machine learning models by providing annotated examples and detailed feedback on system performance.

- Documentation and Reporting:

- Maintain comprehensive records of quality assurance reviews, annotations, and system feedback.

- Generate regular reports outlining data extraction performance, trends in errors, and recommendations for process enhancements.

- Cross-Functional Collaboration:

- Work closely with data science, legal operations, product design, and tech teams to ensure that the data extraction aligns with legal requirements and operational best practices.

- Participate in training sessions and workshops to stay updated on regulatory changes and industry best practices within alternative investment funds.

Required Qualifications:

- Educational Background:

- Bachelor's/Master's degree in law, Finance, or a related field.

- Experience:

- 3+ years of experience in a legal, compliance, or paralegal role with substantial and demonstrable exposure to alternative investment funds.

- Proven and demonstrable track record of working with fund level documents like LPAs, side letters and related legal agreements.

- Desire to work in a collaborative and cross-functional role in an AI-focused early-stage startup.

- Technical and Analytical Skills:

- Familiarity with AI, machine learning workflows, or legal technology platforms is preferable but not required.

- Strong analytical and critical thinking abilities with meticulous attention to detail.

- Soft Skills:

- Excellent communication and collaboration skills to effectively bridge legal, product and technical teams.

- Ability to work both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
