Role Overview:
The Legal Compliance Lead will serve as a strategic partner to the leadership team in Bangalore, ensuring that all business operations align with global regulatory standards and local statutory requirements. You will navigate complex legal landscapes, providing guidance on corporate governance, risk mitigation, and ethical business practices. This role involves close collaboration with cross-functional departments, including finance, HR, and supply chain, to embed a culture of compliance into the operational fabric of the organization. Your work will directly safeguard the company's reputation and ensure seamless business continuity in a highly regulated healthcare environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee the end-to-end compliance framework for the India entity, ensuring adherence to both local laws and Alcon's global internal policies.
- Manage all corporate secretarial functions, including the preparation of board meetings, maintenance of statutory registers, and filing of annual returns with the Registrar of Companies.
- Advise senior management on legal risks associated with new business initiatives, commercial contracts, and healthcare-specific regulations.
- Lead internal audits and compliance investigations, implementing corrective actions to address identified gaps and strengthen internal controls.
- Act as the primary point of contact for regulatory authorities and external legal counsel, representing the company's interests in legal proceedings and compliance filings.
- Develop and deliver training programs to employees to foster an environment of transparency, ethical conduct, and regulatory awareness.
Required Skillset:
- Demonstrated expertise in managing corporate governance and secretarial compliance for large multinational corporations, with a deep understanding of the Companies Act and relevant healthcare regulations.
- Proven ability to interpret complex legal statutes and translate them into actionable business strategies that minimize risk without hindering operational agility.
- Exceptional stakeholder management skills, with the capacity to influence senior leadership and communicate complex legal concepts to non-legal teams.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, particularly in handling high-stakes investigations and regulatory inquiries.
- A qualified Company Secretary (CS) and a Law degree (LLB/LLM) from a premier institution, with 12 to 15 years of progressive experience in legal and compliance functions.
- Ability to thrive in a hybrid work environment, maintaining high levels of productivity and collaboration across distributed teams in the Bangalore office.
